You got your tricked out or gracefully stock 15-22 and are headed to the range...What gear do you usually take along with you? I mean gunbags/cases, sandbags...anything thats not the gun itself..Just wondering because I'm trying to determine what gear I should get. Specifics on what gear and why that particular gear/brand is a plus!

:) One big thing I carry is a range bag from Midway USA. It works for rifle pistol and I guess shotgun. I don't shoot shotgun. They have got it on sale for $39.99 + shipping. If you miss the June sale they will have it on sale again soon. I have seen several people with this bag so I think it's a good buy. I have had mine for two years and still like it. Don

What do you put in the bag?

Range box, hearing protection, shooting glasses, cleaning rod(s) and attachments, oil and solvent, patches, q-tips, bore light, t-shirts or rags, bean bag(s), staple gun, extra staples, pens, markers, paper for notes, stickers for marking targets, baggies for range pickup brass, bottle of water.

+1 on the Midway range bag. I love the bag - it's was obviously designed by shooters for shooter and easily compares to bags that are over $100.

I have a small 2 wheeled cart for the range. It has my ears, shooting glasses, shooting jacket and glove, a hat, targets, target pasties, spotting scope and mount, chrony and stand, couple of not so old hand towels, fwd rest, rear leather sand bag, a rice bag, approx 7 yellow chamber flags (stored), ammo, stapler, spare staples, pen and pad, tool bag, oil, gun grease, lighter and masking tape for blackening the front sight on some service rifles, lots of water, and cash in case I need to buy something in the club house. And lastly...guns!

Hey, It's right here on my checklist of things to ensure are in the cart before I drive off... :)

You can make a range bag out of anything... I would not suggest the hello kitty bag from wallmart but a camo or black bag from there will work... my range back probably weighs 60+ pounds pretty much I have a complete cleaning kit my ears along with my wifes and a bunch of spair plugs for retards that show up at the range without theirs.. a good staple gun, a few pair or eyes, ammo for everything I brought to play with, targets, I have a cooler bag that I carry with several waters, and the list goes on and on

Oh and a first aid kit.. don't know how may times I've been at the range and a new shooter has crossed their thumb across the back of an autoloading pistol and removed a chunk of flesh... so its never a bad idea to have that

+ 1 Midway range bags.

Non-gun/ammo specific items include- Allen wrenches, short screwdriver with multiple bits, penny and dime, small adjustable wrench, small knife, 10x25 monocular, ear muffs and disposable plugs (which I regularly give out to kids cuz their parents forget), safety glasses (which I gave to a kid at the range last week cuz his dad didn't bring any... and I never got back), large freezer bag for dirty brass, variety of batteries for all optics and iseries moistened lens cleaners, staple gun, white paper and ShootNC stickies.... and of course my Midway Compact (which isn't so compact) Competition Range bag. To hold small stuff in the bag I use a small double sided tackle box.

A range bag can quickly get too heavy to carry! Ammo and some basic tools is all I need.

A "thirty caliber" ammo can will hold more .22LR ammo than you can shoot in a week, and is handy to grab. Room inside for a sectional cleaning rod or Bore Snake and small bottle of CLP.

The range will determine what targets you can shoot at. Paper is extremely boring so something reactive will be more fun and force a change of aiming point and stance during the session. On ranges restricted to paper use multiple targets and shoot them in different sequences.

Sandbags? If you're shooting other than offhand you're not developing any skills. 5 year olds can hit targets off sandbags. These ain't benchrest rifles.

i use a back pack i picked up at walmart's, and my rifle case. if i use pistol's, i put them in a zip up case and put them in the back pack. i use a zip up shaving kit bag for a few hand tools and rifle accessories so i can get to them easy. i carry a little more of ammo than i need, magazines, gun slick spray, cloth baby diapers, peltor ear plugs, and caldwell target's. yesterday i had my AR15, M&P and a loaded up pack. wasn't as bad as i thought.

Sweet thanks guys. I'm getting stuff together and I'll post mine when I do. This thread definitally made me think of some things that I was forgetting about haha.

I have several gun cases as well as range gear bags from 5.11 and Blackhawk I use. even though I'm a dealer for both and like both I really like and use the Blackhawk gear a bit more often. there's a bit more options and slightly better quality with Blackhawk in my humble opinion.

I have a range bag from Cabelas . Got it for $20 on sale. It's my grab and go bag. If I have time I have a couple other bags I load to the til. I tend to overpack so I like to keep a quick grab bag with just basics, glasses, ear muffs, ear plugs, stapler, basic targets, few tools, tape.

I have been using this bag for a while. It is my EDC bag but also doubles as a secondary gun bag for pistols. I added a hydration pack and first aid kit. I throw the other range essentials in the main compartment. Here are a few pics of it.

I use an older duffel bag, it's a hockey coach's size. I keep a multitude of items on hand for my rifle and pistols.
-Earmuffs with a handfull of foam plugs for backup
-Clear safety glasses (normally wear sunglasses)
-Small knife for whatever
-Roll of duct tape for target hanging
-Staple gun for target hanging
-Targets
-Binoculars to help see impact down range
-Small punch
-Flathead screwdriver
-Sharpie markers
-Small hand towel to wipe my hands, set things on, or wipe oil
-Spray bottle of break-free
-Small nylon brush
-Ammo
-Magazines
-Holster and magazines carriers for my pistols
-Lens cleaning cloth
-Note pad for range notes

And anything else I can think of.
