At last! I bought this gun at the beginning of COVID, just before all gun prices went stupid. The Strike One was touted as the all conquering competition pistol with a bore axis lower than a Glock and almost zero muzzle flip and recoil. All sounds good, but the laws of Physics still apply.
I have a suspicion that the gun is sprung for light loads. Couple of times it felt like the slide "bottomed out", and I'm only using 124 gr Blazer Brass FMJ. It's not that the recoil is vicious or anything, but I was left with the impression that the slide was moving awful fast. I don't get that with a 5" M&P or Canik. The trigger on stock Strike Ones has come in for some criticism. It's not as good as a Canik or the Q100 I had shot just before, but I didn't feel it was a hindrance.
What was weird is that I had issues getting consistent groups with a thumbs down hold. Check out the first two target pictures that were shot thumbs down. The 4 shot group at 10 yards was because I miscounted in the previous string and shot six, in an ugly group. This gun wants a thumbs forward grip. Check out the the 15 rounds at the orange 2" target shot thumbs forward. Interesting.
Some may wonder why I want to shoot thumbs down. It has to do with guns with smaller grips where I sometimes get my long digits tangled up. Thumbs down prevents this. Looks like there are certain pistols I'll have to shoot thumbs forward because of the shape of the grip. OK!
