Started out with a used rifle a few weeks ago. DTU3xxx

I put about 500 rounds of Federal .22cal Long Rifle 40 grain pack through it at two ranges. I liked the way it fired but had to do a few upgrades.

  • NC Star Mark lll Tactical Mil Dot Scope 3-9x42 Illuminated
  • Mini Red Dot Sight
  • Grip-pod GPS02 retractable bipod/foregrip
  • 1/2" riser (not pictured)

I went to the range and put another 300 or so in getting the new setup sighted in and testing. Took less than 25 to get it sighted in at ~75yards. I had my first failure to fire after switching from the 40 grain 500 pack to the bulk Federal 550 round 36 grain value pack.

~75yards, 25 rounds

~40yards, standing, rapid fire. I find myself shooting low, pulling down and overcompensating for recoil that doesn't really exist :D

Pretty happy with the setup so far. The NCStar 3-9 scope works very well, and I can't say I had any issues over 300 rounds with it staying true. We'll see if it moves after being transported. I do however have an issue with the red dot on top. I have my eye way right looking in to get a clear dot and I just can't get it aligned correctly. I'll contact their support.

The most important thing to me right now is a new stock. I absolutely hate the default stock and it's relatively uncomfortable to me. I spend more time fiddling around trying to get that where it feels right on my shoulder than I do aiming.

It seems like we're all having issues getting the DDAB on top of the MKIII to sight in. I think it's just too high up from the bore centerline. I moved mine over to the left side 45 degrees but I am still waiting on a replacement elevation adjuster so I won't be able to use it tomorrow, just the scope and it's bang on :)

Great photos and great shooting!

Yes and no. Mine is a clear issue of it pointed way left due to poor hole drilling. I don't think they're really mounted too high as I'll only be using it close range. That being said, you can't exactly expect 25y and 100y to be the same ;)

Not enough adjustment in mine to sight it in at 16.5 yards.. I couldn't even get on the paper (and it's not crooked). My goal was to get the red dot set in for indoor and get the scope shot in for 100yds but as of the moment I've not had any luck with the red dot on top of the scope. Once the new elevation adjuster gets here I will be curious to see if I can get it shot in for close range with it being canted.

Pissed Off

Well i was finally able to go to the range the other day and it was fun but I was constantly getting at least 1 FTE from every 10 rounds :( sometimes it was every other shot. I dont know what to do.

Send it and be done with it. They will upgrade it to new spec.

There is a DIY video for adjusting the ejector. Or like kilo6echo said, contact S&W for a return shipping label.

Nice tight group at 75yds RokleM. Some have disputed the accuracy of the 15-22 but I am getting similar results with mine. I've killed all the squirrels that were young and dumb in my orchard, so the only ones left are all 75-100 yds out. I played around with a Sight Mark red dot but went back to my 3x9 tactical mil-dot scope like yours. Love this little rifle!
