Just got back from the range. The M&P fuctioned without issue. I was very pleased with the accuracy, even at 50 feet. I shot AR15 and Golden bullet. Both ran without any problems. As advised, I used a spent round to decock at the end of my session. Only shot about 100 rounds. Both the tumb safety and the trigger are a little soft, but the more I used them the more I got the feel of their delicate feed back (mostly been shooting a RIA 1911). The slide really functioned smoothly and I always knew when it locked back on the last round. In general there was a nice feeling of percision, especially for a $400 pistol.
I bought the M&P because I'm left handed and like the ambi safety and mag release. My next move is to move up to a 9mm, but I can't decide between a sig, XDM, or M&P. I kind of like the Sig but they are way expensive. Guess I'll shot the M&P for a while before making any more purchases.
One last comment. I registered the M&P on line yesterday. After dealing with RIA/Armscor I've been spoiled regarding warranties. The S&M warranty is one year to the orginal purchaser, need proof of purchase etc. - general warranty limitations. RIA/Armscor's warranty is life time, on the gun - period. There is no need for proof of purchase or anything else. When I needed a tune-up on my first RIA 1911 and I called them about getting service, they said just send it in, if we made the gun, we'll fix it. They also paid postage both ways. After registering on the S&M website, I got the feeling that any problems on day 366 will be mine. Not complaining, just spoiled.
Thanks for the help with the decocking.
