I received my barrel mentioned in this thread (http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/407851-storm-lake-conversion-barrels.html) yesterday and took it out to the range today.

I placed it in my well broken in 40 police trade in and ran 100 rounds of Blazer 115 steel case, 50 rounds of Federal HST 124 and 25 rounds of my wife's Hornady Critical Defense Lite 100g through.

Accuracy: Very pleased with the groupings.

Reliability: I had one failure to eject with the steel case. Very pleased with how the different weight ammo ran.

Fit: The barrel is truly drop in and locks up tight.

Overall: Very pleased with the purchase as I wanted another 9 and this gave me two guns for under $500 total.

Recommend!

Glad its working well for you, that was basically my plan as well. I was going to get a FS .40 to complement my Shield, then pick up a conversion 9, and have the combo. Instead, I decided on a Sig SP2022 40, and even though I love that gun, reading this makes me think about what might have been. :(

I also converted my MP40 to 9mm but I used a S&W factory barrel purchased from Midway USA for about $70. The Storm Lake conversion was a lot more expensive.

I shot the MP with both barrels back to back and I was slightly more accurate with the 9mm than the 40. I also tried the 40 cal mags loaded with 9mm and that worked fine also.

I am going to leave the 9mm conversion barrel in the gun due to better accuracy, lower cost ammo, and more magazine capacity.

Well, both Storm Lake and S&W recommend the 9mm mags for any conversion, and if you're talking range use only...? BUT!

I'd spring for at least 1 gen-u-ine factory mag (even if was a used 10 rounder?) for either home defense or self-defensive carry...?

Cheers!

P.S. Just had my 1st range outing with the 5.02" Storm Lake in my 4.25" P.C.40 C.O.R.E. and it was just amazing: put mag extenders on the factory 9mm mags (no way to confuse them with the 40/357 ones now), function & accuracy was 100%!

Everyone likes the SL conversion barrels but how about some groups at 25 yards using a solid rest with open or optics please . Maybe 15 yards for open sights !!
