I went back to my LGS late afternoon yesterday and purchased the New .380M&P Shield EZ and this morning took her to the range. As I said yesterday I'm a revolver guy since the 70s. .357magnums only(my daily carry is a 640 Pro) so this is my first automatic firearm. I read the manual and ask a couple of questions of long time auto owners. I have the model without the manual safety since the grip safety in my mind was enough and I wanted an auto that was point and shoot like my revolvers. Well, Smith Does Not disappoint with the .380 M&P Shield EZ. For a guy that has only shot maybe 6-8 rounds from a friend's Colt Delta Elite 10mm and no other automatic in his life I was amazed. She's a fun gun to shoot. I had No problems at all putting 80 rounds of 95gr FMJ thru her. She has only a 5 pound trigger pull and I felt that the little recoil she had felt like it was less than a .38 special thru my 640 Pro. She field stripped effortlessly since this was my first time cleaning an auto too. The magazine thumb slide makes loading a breeze and the magazine is numbered on each side so you can't make a mistake loading the 8 round clip. No guys, Smith is Not paying me to say these things. For a revolver guy that brought his first automatic and can shoot 8, 9, & 10 rings at 20 feet first time out at the range I now feel I have my Perfect Concealed Carry Pair. My 640 Pro Series .357 magnum and my New M&P .380 Shield EZ. It's kinda like a Mounds and Almond Joy candy commercial. "Sometimes you feel like a nut (.357 magnum)sometimes you don't."(M&P Shield. 380 EZ.)

Good to hear! I live out west, and none of the LGS's anywhere near me have these yet, so I got the thumb safety model (my wife is used to having a thumb safety) online, and will have it delivered to my FFL. Should have it late next week, and I am beyond excited to see how it performs, especially next to my wife's Sig P238, and my Taurus PT638!

Handled one at a LGS today and I will get one in a couple months. Fine piece with excellent trigger. Hope they add night sights soon.

Thanx for the review.I'll wait for a test drive myself and some longevity reports.Sound like what I need for my wife to enjoy.

I shot 95gr FMJ .380 today. Range ammo. I brought a box of Hornady Critical Defense .380 95gr FTX for defense carry. I carry 125gr .357magnum FTX in my 640 Pro Series. I've practiced with Critical in .357 but since Critical Defense is $20. for a box for 25 rounds and range ammo(50 rounds)of the same.380 95 grain is $15. Sometimes you can get the same caliber and grain size and be good to practice a bit cheaper.

Thank you for the range report!!! Very heloful! There is a seller on Gunbroker who listed almost a dozen on tbe models WITHOUT the manual safety, SO I guess they are starting to trickle in.

My wife really wants the manual safety option so I'll just wait until my LGS gets one in. I.left my name and number so hopefully, soon.

You can get good range ammo a good bit lower than that from AIM Surplus.

Nice report. Now, we need photos!

Thanks for the report. I got one last Saturday. Took it to the range and fired 100 rounds FMJ. Much more accurate than my shield 1.0 40S&W and much less recoil. Going back this Saturday to try some Hollow Points.
Yesterday I called S&W about spare mags and they said to call back in two weeks. I just received an IWB holster from Desantis.

Thank you for the range report. I was at my LGS this morning picking up a S&W Model 10-2 and saw they had one on display.

Feels a lot like my .22 M&P compact and I was amazing at how easily it racked. May have to see if they will let me shoot one.

It would look nice sitting with my 9mm Shield and the .22 Compact. :D

I am looking forward to trying one out and maybe purchase. Thanks for a really good report on your experience.

Just a thought. I buy all my ammo on line. You can get 50 round boxes for the price of 20 or 25 round boxes at your LGS plus shipping. You can usually get hard to find ammo their also.

Enjoy your new pistol. Be Safe and shoot often!
