No, I bought the ones they had. I don't know who makes them but they work flawlessly.

Contact S&W and send it back. I purchased one for my wife that acted the way you’ve described. I tried to find an ammo it liked, polished the feed ramp and mag lips, but it just wasn’t right. It might run a mag fine and FTF 3 times on the next. I sent it back and once it returned, it hasn’t hiccuped once.

I purchased one of the 9mmEZ pistols. I Have shot Approximately 200 rounds through mine, Most of those rounds being FMJ. I have shot approximately 25 rounds of Hollow Points. I wish I could have shot it more. The price of Ammo and Arthritis have slowed my trips to the range down. I will say that all of the rounds I have fired have been flawless With 100% reliability. I really like my EZ

Your weapon might be getting better as it is getting broken in but the three
115 gr, FMJ loads are a puzzle with each being in the same area of FPS.

No problems with the Winchester ammo and then the PMC and Federal getting those problems, is strange.
Maybe there is a different OAL of the last two that your weapon or mag's don't like.
Usually "Ball" ammo at that speed works in new pistols being broke in.

RESOLVED!

I take all new mags apart, smooth lips with a medium stone, spray all parts with CRC Silicone, wipe all parts with cotton cloth, and reassemble. I never assume a new mag is good to go, and I have found a few that were pretty rough.

Thanks to @Okfco5 my EZ9 now feeds flawlessly with all 6 magazines!

I took magazines 3, 4, 5, and 6 apart and smoothed out the mag lips, the inside of the magazine, and the follower with a Dan's Soft (medium) Arkansas pocket sharpening stone. The pocket stone was a good size for getting inside the magazine where it needed to be.

I did not lube them; just smoothed them.

I also polished the feed ramp of the gun with Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish.

Today, I ran 176 rounds through the gun, focusing on the "problem mags" - 48 rounds each through mag 4 & 5, which previously had ~30% FTFs - and 32 rounds each for 3 & 6, which previously had ~5% FTFs, plus 8 rounds each through the previously flawless 1 & 2.

I used a total of 92 rounds of Winchester Target 115 Grain FMJ (1190 fps), and 84 rounds of STV Scorpio 124 Grain FMJ, (1181 fps.) (The fps number is from the box, so...)

No issues at all. Perfect. No FTFs, nothing. slick as grease through a goose.

I feel a lot better now, because I really like this gun.

I suspect the Failure to Fire issues are due to headspace problems. You may want to have a gunsmith check the chamber on your pistol to see where it falls within the SAAMI specification. If it too deep they your misfire issue isn't the Federal ammo, it's a barrel that wasn't chamber bored properly. As for why other ammunition works just fine, all it takes a case headspace length a few thousands of an inch longer. Another potential cause could be a "short" firing pin. Take a close look at the depth of the firing pin dimple and compare it to a case from a different pistol that works fine with Federal ammo. Unfortunately Headspace, Case length, and Firing pin length all have tolerances and when these tolerances stack up "wrong" you can get results like this. IMO it's better to get this corrected now because you'll have a much easier time getting it corrected now when the gun is new rather than later when they can claim it's "normal wear".

BTW, there are Go/NoGo gage sets to check chambers and Go/NoGo gages to check headspace length and diameters on a loaded round of ammunition. A good gunsmith should have these gages on hand which is why I suggest you visit a gunsmith. If you don't have a real gunsmith in your area then get on Midway and look up theses gages and consider purchasing them for yourself. I always have a case gage for every caliber I load because it insures my ammunition is within the SAAMI specification instead of just plunking in the chamber. Note, a short case will plunk just dandy but it may not actually prove reliable in live fire.

I would definately checkout magazines #4 & 5 for improper top metal OAL and widths on the loads.
Make sure the bullet is not pointing too low or high, for propper feeding.

I would also check the feed ramp, to see if it needs to be polished, with all the FMJ bullets that FTF.

I don't understand how the JHP feed 100% and the FMJ round nose loads, have problems feeding.

98% of my FTF came from bad magazine angle and bullet fit.
Hope you find the problem.

What did they do to fix it?

The paperwork that came back with it said, “replaced boltface”. What ever they did apparently worked.
