For several reasons, I've decided to try to put this in the hands of a someone who'll appreciate it as much, if not more, than I. It's an astounding antique pistol in phenomenal shape that should appeal to either a collector of rare antique pistols or rare Smith & Wessons. The mechanics are perfect, the bluing and colour case hardening are like new pistol, and it's one of the nicest ones I've ever held. The lanyard ring and 4-1/2" barrel means it's a custom order from S&W. The only 2 detractors are the fact that there are several small blemishes in the otherwise pristine bore and my belief that the grips are not original to the pistol. As with any custom piece, it literally becomes one-of-a-kind and as such would be a lovely centerpiece in any collection. From what I've seen my asking price is not a deal but it is fair, given what this pistol is. Please note; I've requested the letter from the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation. That will be provided to the buyer free of charge if the pistol is sold prior to my receiving it. I'm asking $5,000. (USD). Thanks for looking.
PS: I forgot to mention that I'd also consider a trade for an equally high condition NM#3 in .44 Russian.
