My brother was given a Hopkins& Allen falling block 22 rifle. Wood and barrel were trash. I took barrel off a junk Savage
29-B and fit it to action. Took Savage stock and fit to gun also.
Forearm was from a Stevens Favorite. Brothers kids shot gun
for several years. We were going to a new show and gun ended
up in our trade pile. We were setting up, before show, when a
"dealer" stopped and picked up rifle. He offered $100 for it,we
took it. He then proceeded to tell us, I don't want to make you
boys feel bad, but you just sold me a rare proto- type. When I
turned barrel the 29-B was cut off and stock had Savage Indian
in butt plate. Action had no markings. Us poor country boys had
been taken advantage of again by the big time city dealers.
