I am not sure if I am posting in the right place or not.

However, I have been told, though I have not really researched it too much, that there are extended magazines that will work with the 45 shield.


The SRO says he has seen both 10 round and 13 round extended magazines for not just the full size 45 but also the shield size. Is this a fact, or something he is in error? If a fact, where might find such. I am not looking to use when I carry, but out on the range to make things a bit easier.

Only mags I've ever seen for the .45 Shield are the factory flush fit 6rd and extended 7rd.
The full sized M&P .45 (NOT Shield) standard mag is 10rds and there is a 14rd extended mag (not sure if still available).

I stand corrected, I just found that Promag does offer a 10rd extended .45 Shield magazine. I however have NEVER found any Promag magazine to work properly for any length of time, if at all.
Only thing I have found Promag magazines good for is to practice malfunction clearance drills.

I have only found two uses for their magazines, one is what you mentioned the other is to use with the pup to play fetch.

Pro mags are not just for malfunction drills. They make handy little targets sitting on the berm as your only consolation for wasting money on them is to shoot them to bits.
Clean up the pieces and springs, toss them in the trash, and congratulate yourself on having had a cathartic and educational experience.

You know, way back in the days of the Clinton era ban, I had purchased 10 Pro-mag glock 9mm mags at a gunshow for something like 5 bucks each. Got em to the range and VOILA, instant failure of all 10. I contacted Pro-Mag, located in Kalifornia and they told me they would honor the warranty, however they could not ship out hi cap mags due to the ban, so after some haggling, they ended up sending me 20 blued 1911 magazines, I got them and had similar issues, took em over to my gun workshop and swapped out the internals with safari arms and essex parts and I still have these mags to this day, working just as good as any Wilson, McCormick or Remington magazine.
