Really getting tired of other people's entitlement attitudes.

My new neighbor turned out to be a good handy man and not a bad fellow. So I have hired him to do several things around here that I am getting too long in the tooth to do. As time goes by a lot of his junk he has about his place has ended up over at my place and just sits there. He brought over a new jack hammer in the case to read the paper work on it. Well after a few beers he didn't want to haul it back home so he left it here. Still got it after after several weeks. Told him I as thinking about taking it to a pawn shop but he didn't take the hint as I still have it. I want to be a good neighbor but where do I draw the line?

Many years ago I sold my VW Rabbit. I had it advertised for $1200. A gent, not of this country, came and offered me $600. I said no. He said that since he offered me what was a fair price, it is customary in his country that I have to accept the offer. Again I told him no. At that time, my wife stepped outside. He looked at her and told me to send her back into the house as women have no right to be part of any negotiations. I asked him to leave my property. He left. Another gent showed up a few minutes later, handed me $1200 and drove off happy. The first gent returned with $600 in hand demanding the car. I told him it was sold and to again leave my property and not to come back. He did leave, but said he would be back with the police to have me arrested. Never saw him again.

I have had dealing with people who expect you to honor their customs from where every they are from and are offended if you don't. Yet if I went to their country and expected the same they might start trowing rocks at me.

65-2x2, I did the exact same thing, mostly to keep the dogs in, with the gate & the Great Pyrenees there have been no problems. Also shoot on my property as do my two neighbors.

If it bugs you, you need to tell him or start charging a storage fee.

Suspect that it is a Real Estate Flipper who keeps sending me cards.
"I can pay $$$ for your property (address) Call ####"
More than slightly suspicions.
His latest "offer" is $86,000.
I sold the property six months ago for $40,000.
Deed is recorded at court house.

Buy it back for 60K. Then offer it to him for 90.

I had a garage sale, had to be over 20 years ago. Start time on signs was 9 AM. People showed up around 7:30 as we were setting up. At first I resisted selling, but since I was in this for the money, I let people look. Ended up selling 80% of what I had out before 9:00. Sold most of the rest by 11:00. Short day, made a lot of money and had the afternoon free. If I ever have another, will put signs out AFTER I have everything ready..

In my case our garage sale was in the paper. At that time the paper had a column where you could post your sale info on it for free. Of course the hours were posted but I still got door knockers a 1 1/2 hour early. My signs put up the night before also were well marked as to hours.

That will be my only sale, in the long run everything came out OK. I got rid of a lot of stuff and made a few bucks.

My reply would have been "You're no longer in your country, you're in mine so your customs don't apply".

Of course, I wouldn't have been so polite.

Happened again. This guy didn't ask to buy anything and didn't cop an attitude when I said no. Refreshing. Or it would be if the conversation didn't go like this:
Can I help you?

Does the truck run?

No.

Oh. Well my spare is really bad. Could I take one of the tires off of it?

I seriously just can't believe people anymore.

You're looking at this incorrectly. This guy is lonely in a strange land; any contact is better than none, and at least you speak to him.

Good God, I must be a magnet for this stuff. Doordash driver delivers my pizza at the curb, he starts to walk back to his Prius and I start to go inside with my food. He suddenly calls out and comes back to me and asks me something like, "How much Toyota worth?" English is definitely not his first language, nor has he been speaking it long. I tell him, "It's a 2013, I bought it used for 12,000." Keep in mind I bought it last December, and have put maybe 1000 miles on it since.
We then had a conversation with much confusion on my part as to what he was trying to get across. At one point I thought he was asking how much a new one was, then I thought he said he had a 2000 model. After a second and third try, I finally got what he was trying to say. He wanted to buy it for $2,000.
Sorry, Chief, I don't want to sell it, it's my daily driver, and I especially don't want to sell it at a $10, 000 discount. talk about depreciation!
