Really like these 327 pc alloy eight shot revolvers

The short barrel is actually great, especially compared to my 340 M&P. (whenever i think its too snappy I just load some 357 in the 340 and suddenly the 327 feels manageable again).

It really seems like perceived recoil is heavily subjective. That 327 pc, 357 snub is my fastest shooting/drawing gun and its sharp recoil im used to but I might tolerate that recoil level only because I put about 100 rounds through my 340 every range session.(only 10-20 are 357 rounds the rest are 38 plus p and always at the end of the session, because It just deadens the hand).

But thats just my take on it.

I'd love to get one of those 327 stub noses but I'm afraid the recoil would be too much for me. They look great, though.

Actually recoil is mild due to overall size! I put Pachymer compac grips on mine...

I like your Miha mold better. Alloy is too much for me and I prefer all steel now. But I'm not going to bash, they do look like they mean serious business. The "Plug"comes in a Delrin version to match that black finish...

Is the snub a fixed sight gun?

The snub has a groove leading to a dovetailed front, I was going to replace the front with a big dot or just drill and insert my own tritium but i have many projects and that one took the back burner.

Rubber grips do help with recoil on the snub but they seem to really slow down my draw. The grips on there now are Hogue's and they are the third set ive tried. They work fabulously for my needs.

I understand many guys dont like the newer alloy guns but I personally prefer them. I really appreciate the weight savings especially on long hikes/animal tracking. I cant shoot a comparable size steel gun without getting sloppy when I switch back to my alloy guns so I sold off all my steel revolvers. I now only own three alloy smiths and I will purchase a extra 442 sometime soon but im really sold on these new alloy guns.

Im really trying a new tactic, "less guns more practice". With my reloading and casting gear all sorted out I have tripled my yearly round count. I also sold of my 9mm's and 45's because switching weapons really seemed to deteriorate my progress with my alloy smith's. My 9mm's were so easy to shoot that when I switched back to my smiths I would have a lack in confidence. It just takes a lot more effort to get fast tight groups when using a 357 snub compared to a 9mm compact, with the full size 357 and 9mm there performance deference are less notable, (I did notice the 357 snub was always faster on the draw, first shot and cylinder dump hence my reasoning for choosing it for carry). Since ive decided for my needs (some carry but mainly woods use) the 38/357 platform is my mainstay i opted to not have the constant comparison.

It measures 2 inches long....why would you want to call it a 1 inch?

I love mine as well. I have 4 327s now.

I have the original 5" with the titanium cylinder

I added a 327 TRR8 but have not photographed it yet.

I also have the 2" snubby. What a cool revolver

I have also purchased a 327 Night Guard


Now if you really want fun. Try one of the Scandium framed 45 LC revolvers. These are a handful.

Since I belong to the "I'm still too pooooo to buy guns from S&W PC" club that explains my ignorance on this issue.

I like the idea of the short barreled 8 shoot M327, but wish it were say 2 1/2" to make it look a little more balanced with not so much a "pug" or "pekinese" face on it.

There is always the 327NG.

The NG has a 2 1/2" barrel and great sight picture with the Ashley Express BigDot Tritium on the front and the U shaped notch in the rear. It is about 20% heavier than the 2" 327PC due to the longer barrel and the stainless steel cylinder. It is also several hounded dollars cheaper.

I love the NG series with the exceptions of the pictures of cracked frames, the scandium price tag, and the usual complaint of the ILS hole. I kept coming close to buying the 310 but the price kept me at a distance. The only thing that would have made it better was to offer the same deal in a three inch. There is a forum member who was looking to sell a three inch 386 Airlite that had the same sights and I was sorely tempted. I'm not sure what held me back besides once again the price. Scandium just can't cost that much. I don't know if they are using the sights made by C&S or D&L Sports though. I love the D&L Sports sights. I want to swap my six inch barrel for a four inch on my 629 and add those sights. But now I'm day dreaming again. So many projects so little money…

I have a 310NG in addition to a 327NG. BTW, that may have been my 386 that you were looking at.

Cracked frames are common on all S&W alloy frame revolvers going back for decades. There is nothing new here. S&W quickly resolves the issue should you get a bad one.

As to Scandium. . . . It is one of the rarest substances on earth, right up there with Gold. In-fact the prices are very similar. Fortunately the firearms are not made of pure Sc or we could never afford them. It is aluminum alloyed with Scandium. Just a small amount of Scandium makes the Aluminum much stronger, much MUCH STRONGER.

The 310NG is a GREAT revolver. I have opened my chambers up so that the revolver will now fire 10MM Magnum, 10MM Auto and 40S&W interchangeably. I have done the same with both of my 610s as well.

The 310NG is a handful with the 10MM Magnum ammunition, but controlable and easy to carry.

Adding my 327PD to this thread--it isn't a PC gun though.

I've very fond of this piece, so much so that it is my primary home defense weapon, loaded with .38 Special +p's. The N frame does a great job soaking up the recoil, and my 5'2 wife can easily control/fire it

I've been looking at the 327 NG but I can't find anywhere online if it will take the moon clips like the TRR8/R8 and the 327 PC. Do you guys know if it does or doesn't ???
