I don't like the rear sight on the new M&P 22 LR. It would be decent with 2 white dots on it to line up 3. But as is too much margin for error to me. Options, ideas? I am open. It is a dovetail mount. When you sight it, there is too large an opening between the rear sight and the front sight. Thanks in advance folks.

I tried painting mine, flourescent red in front and green in the rear. Even though I cleaned them very well with alcohol, the paint fell off during competition. I ordered a set of Dawson Fiber Optic sights and they work perfectly.

I did this and regretted it terribly. I just spent the better part of an hour sitting here at the kitchen table getting it all off. YMMV. I'd like another solution but painting them wasn't it, at least not for me.

Dawson Precision has front and rear sights that work very well. I have have them on all my M&Ps. They will also make you a custom size for an extra $10.

I'm going with Dawson too, ordered front/rear sites, should be here tomorrow.

Been thinking about going this route on MP22 & MP9c, is this someone that has never changed sights going to be able to do or no? I have watched several videos one actually from Dawson Precision but think that was a glock he was working with. I know you can send slide into them with prior arrangement, but that would end up costing a little more than I am prepared to pay right now for them both, so curious how hard it is to do this.

I got the DP F/R on my M&P22... did it myself, first time ever touching sigths... easy install watched a YouTube Vid, bought the Loctite they recommended and so far results have been very good. Much happier than with the stock sights.

Thanks for the pics. I ordered and mounted the front. Just ordered the rear this morning. Wish I would have ordered both in the first place.

I also installed the Dawson FO front and rear sights, but I used the .180 front sight. I had to screw the rear factory sight down all the way to get POA at 25 yards. The .180 put me right on target at that distance, using the non-adjustable Dawson FO rear sight. A friend of mine had the same problem with his. He's also going to a .180 front sight.

I was going to ask whether to go with the .16 or .18 front sight. Would the .16 be correct for closer distance 10 and 15 yards to help compensate for sight height at closer range?

If you use the factory adjustable rear sight, you could go with either, as you can screw the rear down all the way. I shoot an IDPA type shoots with mine, out to 25 yards, or sometimes more. With my POA set for 25 yards with Dawson FO front and rear, I'll shoot one inch low at 7 yards. That's fine with me, as I shoot at an 8 inch bull. One inch low will still put me in the bull, but if I leave a .160 front height sight in there with a non-adjustable rear (Dawson FO) I'll shoot 4-5 inches high at 25 yards. That's much worse than 1 inch low at 7 yards.

I have a Dawson FO rear and a Dawson FO .180 front and it's perfect for me at 25 yards.

I'm sending my .160 FO sight back to Dawson, that I never even opened.

agksimon/ I have the DP front .160 mounted and have ordered the DP fixed rear. What can I expect at 13 to 15 yards? Will it be too high to live with? Thanks

The Dawson FO rear sight is very slightly higher than the factory rear adjustable sight.
If you're an experienced shooter with a good eye and align the sights properly, depending on ammunition used (we use Mini-Mag 36gr HP), you'll probably shoot one to two inches high with the Dawson rear and a .160 front, but that's a guess. Everyone has a different perspective in how they look at sights.

Turned out it is dead on, see posting below.

Hey Folks,

I'm sorry to dilute the DP momentum here... great thread, I'm going to check out the DPs now, first I've heard of them... But I have another question...

If you want me to start a new thread, I'll be happy... LMK.

Q: Has anyone ever moved stock sights of an M&P 9/40 to an M&P22? I own a 40c which I intended to install TFOs. And I really dislike the rear sight on my M&P22. I was wondering if the 40c rear will fit on the M&P22 rear?

I searched and searched on the forum, didn't find anything similar... Nor did I want to start taking things apart and tinkering. I love my guns, don't want to mar them up trying...

Thanks for any input!

Working with Dawson today. Because the factory sighting on the MP22 bites. Terrible sight. I have found 3 on Dawson that I like that won't break the bank. Mine will be for fast action accurate shooting. They quoted me Tritium but out of the price range, Tru glow is a possible but I found several others if they fit the MP22 without any modification of any kind.

Hey Bobermo,

Thanks for the input; I'm OK leaving the front sight, it already has a white dot (not sure if its tritium or not, actually?). But it's really the rear sight I'm aiming to replace. The all-black rears of the 22 are just too bland for me to see well...

Thanks again, I'll wait it out to see if anyone else has an opinion here...

Have a good night,
Sal

I am going with TruGlo fiber optic or Dawson, green on the rear and red front sight. Both have an option that will not break the bank and these are not for night time shooting but daytime. I would be perfectly happy with green dots on the rear with a .125" notch and just a front sight with red dot. Quick alignment and I mean fast, no super expensive junk because it all comes down to ther shooter.

I got the Dawson 018-228 M&P22 front with red fiber optic and got the Dawson 021-211 M&P rear sight with green fiber optics and man these suckers are awesome. I had it laser sighted in and it is dead nuts. These Dawson sights are awesome. Not going to sell the original sights yet with windage but it would take alot to get me to change. Thanks for the advice boys, this is one shootin, mammer jammer!!
