Reasonable Price For Selling Ammo?

I am moving from a second floor apartment to a first floor apartment. My furniture and safe will be moved tomorrow. After making 20 trips down the stairs I am pretty tired. I am almost half way done with all my ammo. So anyway I'm considering selling some of my stash. It will be sold locally only.

I do not want to gouge anyone. I also don't want to provide someone else an opportunity to gouge. (If you don't believe it is gouging I am OK with you holding that opinion. I just will not do that.) So what would be a fair price?
I have good quality factory loaded only. Mostly GD in 45,38, 9 defensive ammo. The practice ammo is generally Blazer.

So should I just suck it up and keep it? I am considering selling a few cases. Not interested in selling by the box.I hope to be moving back into a house in a year when the housing market settles down. Movers will not move ammo. It is hard enough getting them to move my small safe.

It is a tough call. If you have friends and family who shoot maybe you could sell it to them at whatever your "friends and family" price is. If you're going to sell it on the open market, I'd price it according to today's market. Otherwise, someone is going to flip it on you.

A fair, non-gouging price in this environment would be 2/3 to 3/4 what the exact same brand/amount goes for on GB. That's about right to be considered a "deal" by the purchaser but probably not enough of a deal to be worth it for them to flip it online. I also would not sell more than a single case to any one person - spread the wealth, I say...

That may be the best answer. I'm currently operating on the assumption that the situation is not going to improve. Ever.
That would be my answer, too.

I have stuff, but I didn't buy it to flip, I bought it to eventually shoot. What I have all cost basically 1/3 what it costs to replace, give or take a few pennies. Unless you NEED the funds, keep it.

If it's too doggone much work and it's wearing you out moving it, touch base with a trusted friend or family member, and enlist him to help move it. Give him a case for his troubles. At the going prices, that's a hell of a score for an afternoon's work.

With the uncertain future and the projected dates of things coming back to a new "normal" being pushed further and further back, I would not be selling ammo at this time, unless you absolutely have no need for it. Not sure where in SW OH you are located, I'm just east of Dayton, but if you want to give me a PM, I am retired, a strong back and a heavy duty dolly. More than willing to help a fellow member move ammo. Having gone through that myself several years ago, I remember what a challenge it can be.

Keep it!!!!! There is no gold standard on the dollar any more, ammo may some day be currency who knows...

A question I ask myself when this comes to my mind... can I replace it for what I sold it for? Keep the ammo suck it up get a bit of exercise, what doesn't kill you will make you stronger...

Your ammo your choice sir, just my 2 pennies...

There is no such thing as a "reasonable" price in unreasonable times. Get the most you can for it or the person you sell it to will.
THIS, IF YOU DECIDE TO SELL IT.

Quote: No doubt in my mind, keep all of it. THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO. I don't think you'll ever replace it for what you can sell it for. I have enough dis-ease about the future that I will not sell any ammo or components. Possibly trade something I don't need for something I do, bit no sell. The money gets gone, you have neither.

If you really want to sell your ammo find a local auction house and let them sell it. They will keep their cut of about 25%. Sell it in about 200 round lots. No gouging by you as the buyers set the price. Just don't flood the sale with too much at one time. Throw in a couple hundred rounds and test the waters.

I guess for me is do you shoot a lot and are you planning on shooting a lot, if the answer is no then sell some. I sold about 35 boxes of 9mm for averaging about $25.00 box and another 25 boxes of 380 averaging $30 a box and some odd and ends ammo. I bought 681 and today a 627-5. For me I only have 1 auto 9mm and 2 revolvers chambered in 9mm and my wife 380 which she doesn't like. I still have plenty if I get a hankering for a bottom feeder. Just my two cents. Good luck
