What a joke the Shield rebate is. 11 weeks and counting. That is BS I bought it in good faith for 6-8 weeks I would have the rebate. Nothing so far. I emailed Smith a few times and have heard nothing. that is not the way to do business.

They have a contract company processing their rebates and there is nothing fast about them... took me maybe 5 months to get mine.

Patience will serve you well.
My doctor tells me patient people live longer.
Make it your goal to live long enough to get your rebate.

I have read about 100 claims that people are being stiffed by the rebate.
The majority, over time, report getting it. Some have had problems with submission errors. Check your paperwork and contact the people that are handling the rebate.

If you'll use the search function of this forum (which works really well), type in "Shield Rebate" and you'll get about 1200 hits in who-knows-how-many-threads about this subject.

I briefly tried to think of something new to say about it, or offer some new explanation as to why rebates are slow in coming...but I came up empty.

Just my opinion, but what's the point of hammering on this any more? Unless maybe there's just nothing else to talk about this evening?

emains are....

...S&Ws deaf ear anyway, regardless of the issue. If you can't wait, call them and maybe they could put you in touch with whoever is handling rebates. I'd just wait because you will probably get the same results.

Same here -- 16 weeks so far. Took 14 weeks before it showed up on Milano's rebate site. Milano says they then sent it back to S&W for fulfillment. Called S&W CS today. They can't even tell me how much longer. I'll never buy another S&W product with a rebate. They apparently just don't care how long they make you wait. Had my Walther $100 rebate in a matter of a few weeks.

Take some pics of the new guns, and post them in this thread,,,
we will have something to enjoy while the wait continues!! :)

There is a new winter rebate program that appears to be run by a prepaid credit card firm (MetaBank?). I suspect this will run faster than their current vendor, depending on the demand of course.

I posted this in one of the other rebate threads but I finally checked online and found that mine was rejected. The dumb *** that printed up my receipt hit the wrong key and it rang up as MISC MERCHANDISE.

The company handling the rebates stipulated that the receipt had to identify that you had purchased the S&W Shield. My receipt could have been for reloading components for all they know. :(

Called the store and got a corrected receipt but since the deadline for filing is over, I'm not sure if they will accept new information.

My suggestion to S&W or any gun company handling rebates would be to have the seller take the rebate $$ off the purchase price. They could then take the collected rebate forms or coupons and submit them to S&W as a credit against their gun purchases.

The store that I used is the largest S&W dealer in the state and I was told that they sold thousands of the .45 Shields. I know that I told several buddies about the deal and we bought 5 of them all together.

I'm sure they're just holding some back going.... let's see how pissed people get!!!

Lets look at this logically. How many Walthers were sold and in what time frame? S&W had this rebate from April to end of July. Lots of people bought multiples. Guys on this forum who bought half a dozen or more just because of the rebate. Now, how long has Walther had this rebate and how many units actually sold in that time frame?

Which rebate are you referring to?

Here's what the Savings you can carry rebate says. I thought they all say 10-12 weeks.
"Please allow 10 – 12 weeks for fulfillment of valid rebate requests"

Be aware that rebate management companies are paid based on the number of rebates rejected, rather than the number fulfilled.

I've learned from personal experience over the years when it comes to rebates, most of the time it gets kicked back is because info is missing on the receipt. S&W wants this info on the receipt. I've always sent in the original receipt & bar codes from the box. never had a problem. You can always get a copy of your sales receipt for your records from the merchant at the point of sale or make a photocopy, but I would suggest sending the original.

From S&W rebate center:
"1. A scan or photo of your legible purchase receipt showing the purchase date, purchase location, product purchased, serial number, and purchase price. Serial Number of the product purchased. SKU Number of the product purchased"

If you purchase from a big name retailer, ie. The Academy, Bass pro, Cabela's etc. that info will all be on the receipt but if you buy from "Joe's house of guns" down the street, they may only give you a basic receipt. And if it's not on the receipt, it won't get accepted. It has to be printed, not hand written either.

SIG just did a "Two mags and a range bag" rebate. Same BS there as well. Everyone WAITING weeks and weeks. WHY run these things at all...DISCOUNT the gun X amount and be done with it. Why annoy your customers.

Everyone WAITING weeks and weeks.

Hornady's free bullets deal when you buy their press's or dies takes up to 3 months. When it comes to rebates, don't expect a overnight FedEx package. Rebates go by a calendar, not weeks. :p
