I am looking to add a new powder measure/dispenser to my reloading bench, but the newer measures are too expensive. I purchased a used Hornady unit that has a broken reservoir tube. This one utilizes a reservoir that slides over an internal lip, while current production models utilize a reservoir that slides into an external lip.

I am considering fabricating a reservoir using 1 7/8" ID PVC. Does anyone here envision a problem with static electricity buildup by using PVC?

Thanks for your help!

I've never tried PVC, but I would imagine you would have some static electricity using it. How about trying to source some acrylic or plexiglass tubing instead? Doing a quick search, I found a site selling 2" OD, 1.75" ID plexiglass tubing you can buy cut lengths from. An 18" section of that was priced at $20. I'm sure you could look around and find it cheaper.

You could roll some sheet metal into a tube and then solder the seam. Brass would work great, and could even be used with black powder!
Actually, you could do the same thing with other flexible sheet material.

You could also try the pvc, but neutralize the static with anti-static dryer sheets. I store my all of my powder reservoirs with an anti-static sheet placed inside.
I'm not "certain" it will work with pvc as I've never had the occasion to try it, but pvc is the cheap solution and if you can get it to work, why not?

I had to replace a glass powder tube on a Phelps press. I had to buy a three foot section of plastic tube which I cut to length and fitted. It worked great except for a chemical reaction between the plastic and Bullseye powder. (flakes stuck to the plastic). I ended up using a plastic tube from some other container and though thin, it works.

I considered PVC but wanted an easy visual check.

Sinclair International, has replacement resivors for most powder drops. To remove static charge, wash with soapy water don't rinse, let air dry!
