I received my Standard Mfg. SSA today, and I'm very disappointed. There is a burr on the inside of the frame and when I turned the cylinder it put a line on the cylinder. I sent them a Email with pictures I hope they will make it right. I waited 4 weeks for this gun to ship.

I never saw a clearer case of a factory mistake and am sure they’ll fix it up for you. The burr itself is the evidence. If I were you I would not want a new gun. Yours has the best case coloring I’ve seen yet on these guns others posted at Colt Forum. And theirs were real good. that’s a hellva burr! Seems like a cleaned up cylinder or a new one and burr removed. How long is the barrel?

It's 5.5 in.

I see a lot of griping and complaining on here about alleged flaws in guns that one needs a microscope to both find and see. Yours is probably the most legitimate complaint I have seen in my time on this forum. I think it is magnified by the fact that your gun is so magnificent otherwise.

I will be amazed if they don’t fall all over themselves to fix this.

I was told today that Standard has suspended production of their SAA"s. This is a very reliable source.

Not sure how that even left the factory. I’m sure they’ll make it right. Other than that, it’s a magnificent revolver.

OP, as an owner of one myself, I’m curious if there is an update. Thanks

That would piss me right off. Mine has a very slight burr on the back of the frame by the top of the hammer. Can't really see it, but can feel it. It's as if the cutter stopped just moment too soon. It doesnt cause any scraping, but I wasn't happy about it given what I paid for a perfect SAA. Not a big deal though on mine. I emailed them and got no response. They were very responsive to emails when I had questions about buying the gun.

What SN is your gun if you're willing the share? Mine is 1135.

I received a rude email from the final inspector telling me that the gun was in perfect condition when it left the factory but if I wanted to send it back he would look at it at no charge. They do not pay for return shipping.
I had to pay $85.00 to ship UPS next day air. They received it today.

Mine is 1147

I have #1148. I got that card with mine saying the gun left the factory in perfect condition. I have a small issue with one grip but it’s small and not worth sending it back. I also noticed on their website the banner across the top reads something like no return shipping labels and 30% restock fee.
I’m really surprised by their response and will check back in a few days.
Thanks for the update.

I think I would be asking for a check for $85 after Standard Manufacturing fixes the burr and refinishes the cylinder.

They have sold a lot of their single actions due to the positive reviews that new owners have posted on various gun forums. If they try and weasel out of this one it won't do much in the way of goodwill for the company.

It could be worse, you could be dealing with Colt! (circa 1975) I knew a guy that sent an early production SAA in for minor work and a new nickel plating job. At a little over two years he got his gun back......and it had a big thumb print in the nickel !

So I guess a card shipped with the gun stating it is "perfect" releases them from any responsibility? Must be your fault, cause the gun was perfect...

I am surprised at these shenanigans from this company, which is known for its high quality / high priced shotguns.

Please keep us informed with the eventual outcome. At the very least it should be made right, and your shipping cost refunded, along with an apology. I have recommended this maker in the past to several people looking for a new high quality SAA, based on what I have read on the internet. That may change.

This is the reply I got today, " After very close inspection there is no rough spot in the frame or where the screw is. We looked at it with a stereoscope. Regarding the scratch I checked archive photos there was no scratch when I put it in the box I am the last person to touch the gun.

Regardless I fixed it for you and I wont charge you for shipping even though I should. It's being shipped today". So I guess I spent $1,895.00
for a gun and put a scratch around the entire cylinder so I could pay to send it back. I will not spent any more of my money with them.

Thats about the sorriest b.s. i've ever heard. That guy needs to change jobs. I'm sure they're headed for bankruptcy with customer "service" like that. Guy basically called the O.P. a liar. Unbelievable.
