Just got my new 627 about 30 mins ago looks great but the crown. Seen other posts about the same issue. I'll be heading to the range in an hour to see how it shoots.

Ran a 100 rounds threw it, shot GREAT I'll clean it and see what the crown looks like.
Did 18 rounds at 15 yards single action could cover them all with a 50 cent piece.
Ran 64 at 10 yard and had a big hole were the X ring was.

I'm happy with the gun.

Crown on mine looked a bit ragged too, but it didn't seem to affect how the gun performs, as you discovered. Nice shooting; glad you like it.

Was clean the gun and found something I really didn't care for.

The forcing cone looks bad and at the end of the barrel there is a rolled over lip. You can see were my patch hung up on the lip.

Was able to get a good pic of the crown.

Thinking about send it back due to the forcing cone issue and see if they will fix the crown while they have it, what do you all think?

This was the email I sent S&W Sunday afternoon.

I just took delivery on a new 627 Pro(3-15-14) the crown looks damaged, and the forcing cone looks like it was cut with a dull cutter, and on the end of the barrel (forcing cone end) there is a lip. You can see were my patch grabbed the rolled over lip.
I was able to shoot the gun yesterday and was happy how it shot with PMC ammo but am very concerned about the issues I found.
This is my first S&W I've ever bought and had large expectations of replacing my GP100 for my assorted competitive shooting.

I understand that once in while a bad one slips out.

I inserted photos of the concerned areas I mentioned above.

Thanks Robert

Still waiting on a responce from S&W

My experience has been that S&W aren't very good at responding to e-mail.
When I have had a QC issue, I'll tough it out with their phone queue to talk to a human and (hopefully) get the matter resolved.

...my $0.03, YMMV.

I would shoot it some more using a variety of ammunition, and if it still shoots well forget about it. If it becomes a problem later S&W will take care of it.
