I have shot about 1100 rounds out of my mp compact and now I have recently experienced ftf, stove piping, and double feeds.

I have shot both reloads and factory ammo.
I am using 4.6/WSF, 124 gr. Berry bullet and w-w cases.

For some reason just recently I can't shoot five rounds without the pistol malfunctioning. I also have used 3.6/WSF and 147gr. blue bullets as well.
Everything was working fine. Just wondering what you guys think the problem is.

I am shooting a khar pm9 right along side it and it is still performing flawlessly with the same reloads.

Recoil spring or mag springs. If you used diffferent mags with the same issues then try the recoil spring

How can a Recoil spring be worn out after only 1100 shots ?

I'm asking the same question. I've had my m&p 9c for about five years now and have fired it about three times, I'm thinking 3,000+, the number of shots as that of the OP's 9c but I can't see any visible wear with its RS compared to my newer M&Ps.

To the OP, I'd say give it a good cleaning, feed ramp and all, and I'd call S&W CS if the problem persists.

Thank you guys for your response.

Prochi2k,

I am going to give it a good, thorough cleaning and lube and we'll see what happens. Forgot to mention I didn't fire any factory rounds the last couple times I was out so I'll run a box through this weekend to see how those run.

My 40c didn't like a particular brand of reloads...
Shoots anything else.
Disassemble the mags, give them a good thorough cleaning.
You're not over lubing the gun are you?

No I am not overlubing the gun. As a matter of fact I haven't cleaned it in a long time.

Same thing with my khar pm9, I have as many if not a few more rounds in it but it is still going without any hiccups.

So as with any test, start the process to success by changing one(!) item at a time. I'd start with fresh 115 gr factory ammo and try it. If failures persist, then a fresh mag (not just a rebuilt one). If that doesn't cure it, then a fresh recoil spring.... All are relatively inexpensive and easy to try.

over lubing? Really? No, just no.

You could pull it out of a 55 gallon drum of 30 wt and it would function....providing you could hold on to it. :D

OP has feeding issues, not ejection issues ( unless I read it wrong). Therefore it is a mag issue.
Disassemble the mag.

Clean all the parts.

Inspect the follower, you may have an older one and part of it will break off or be cracked. That will send the round out all kinds of wonky.

Check the spring, if you have 2nd or 3rd mag, compare the springs.

Inspect the base plate (Long shot, but why not)

and the last thing is this, look over the mag lip very well. A bent lip will cause issues too.

If you want, I can take pics of any of mine and let you compare.

Hope that helps

How many mags do you have and does it happen with all the mags? If so it's not the mags. Just try a new recoil spring
Wait you haven't cleaned it in a long time??? THEN CLEAN IT and try again. My MP9c always acts up when it's dirty. Thats when I know it's time to clean it. And do a good thorough job
