This week I have received two emails, both allegedly from PayPal, notifying me that $500 has been transferred from my PayPal account wallet to someone’s Coinbase crypto account. Thing is I have no Bitcoin wallet nor a PayPal account. Of course, the message requests that if the amount is incorrect, then contact Coinbase (whatever that is). Seems like Phishing to me.

Hi There,

Sure sounds like a scam to me. Especially since you don't
have a PayPal® account. I have two accounts with them and
I get this type of fraudulent email all the time. If I think there
is something to it, I will log onto my account and look for any
transactions like the one purported in the email. If there isn't
a transaction recorded in my account, there is nothing to worry
about.

So far, they all have been fraud and I just put them into the SPAM
folder and forget about them. Never had a problem.

Cheers!

I have been getting that one as well, but I do have some paypal accounts so I had to check, very annoying.

You should have contacted them to tell them it was a mistake--the amount was supposed to be $500,000.

SEEMS like phishing!?! There is no "seems" about it. It absolutely IS a phishing scam. Glad you didn't fall for it.

My wife got one this morning purporting to be from Geek Squad. Supposedly her protection plan was renewed for two more years at 349.98. If this was incorrect she should call them. Super scamolicious.

Not a chance in hades.

PS: never done business with Geek Squad. I am our tech support.
