Long story short, I have a ad on the "WTB" forum. I received an email on my yahoo account from "Thomas73" from the Smith & Wesson Forum informing me that a widow of a member has parts and he'd bought from her before with no problem. He gave me the contact number of "Bonnie Burnet- 208-551-9606". She (or whoever) responded, we struck a deal on some parts and I was directed to PayPal to remit the funds to "Nathan Pipkin" using friends and family option (money can't be refunded nor the transaction reversed by PayPal once that option is chosen). After I sent the money, crickets! No response to follow up emails and it took a bit before I twigged to the fact that I'd been scammed. I finally realized that I should look at the S&W forum and do a search. Sure enough, "Thomas73" came up as a known scammer. BTW, alternate email is [email protected]. It hurts to lose a 1/4 of month's pension but lesson learned. Please learn from my mistake and look out for any of those names or emails.
