Just picked up this S&W Model 19-4 2.5" barrel .357 Magnum in nickel finish. It has the S&W target sites and what i believe to be the S&W combat grips. I'm the 3rd owner of the gun, i know the name of the original owner but i believe he has passed away, he was a NC Highway Patrolman and used it as a duty weapon but luckily for me didnt shoot it much. Its in gorgeous condition, only thing "off" is the front sight was retouched with yellow paint covering the factory red. From the little searching I've done online and from a few people I've talked to I believe this gun to have been ordered with these grips as well as the sites, the grips were the biggest question since i can't find really any others with the same, which is kind of good for me i guess haha. But this really is my baby, doubt I'll ever sell it, shot it a few times but its in such good shape I'd really just like to hold on to it and only shoot it on occasion.

What do you guys think it is worth and am I correct about the grips and sites being factory ordered?

Welcome to the Forum (if no one else has said it yet). The target sights are standard to this model, and it is possible it shipped with these stocks as a special order. If you do not have the original box and label stating this, the only way to verify this would be a factory history letter. From the photos, the hammer and trigger appear to be refinished (not color case-hardened) - do they look that way to you also?

Thanks...you are the first to welcome me haha. How would i go about determining if they were refinished? Sorry for my ignorance, im still very new to this. Spent many many years ignoring guns and surrounding myself with cars haha. I will say that you can see some wear and darkening on the hammer and trigger in a couple spots in person, this picture hides it a bit better then in person.

Im going to go ahead send in a request for the factory history letter, didn't know they offered it until you mentioned it, too bad they charge $50 for it :/

Welcome aboard. The 19-4 was my first handgun and my first duty sidearm. Shoot it all you want, it won't hurt it and it's too nice to hide in the safe.

Very Nice! Take that baby out and shoot it. Got a 19-4 Nickel 2.5" myself, but it's not here yet. You should love the 2.5" k frame magnum. There like pringles, can't have just one! The new nickel one will be my seventh.

Enjoy it!

The factory Combat stocks usually have a very shiny lacquered finish, so yours may have had this stripped off. The color casehardened parts are grey/dark yellow/blue mottled, so if you see this they may be original but faded.
