My question is: where can I get springs for 5" barrel guide rods and the guide rods ? ...no one seems to have them, and I see a lot of misinformation that 4.25" barrel guide rod will fit a 5" barrel gun. That is total nonsense ! Not on Smith & Wesson M&P 9 M2.0 9 mm pistol, Flat Dark Earth - SKU 11537

Well, perhaps the 2.0 is different, but on my 1.0 the RSA is the same for the 4.25" and 5" (yes, I have both).

Problem solved

I also have both, both M&P M2.0. The 4.25" barrel M&P has a 3 1/4" guide rod, and the 5" barrel M&P has a 3 1/2" guide rod.

The 5" M&P M2.0 9 mm - SKU 11537

doesn't take 3 1/4" guide rod, it's too short...

I can tell you with confidence that I found out by sheer accident that the spring and the guide in this gun is the same as the one used in .45 ACP S&W M&P 45 M2.0 with 4.6" barrel

He did indicate a 5" barrel for a 2.0...? One can use a longer barrel in a shorter slide, but not vice-versa.

I know the guide rod for the 5" 2.0 slide I have is longer than those for the M&P 1.0 full size with the 4 1/4" slide.

Cheers!

As a side note I needed one for my 5” M2.0. Researching I learned that ‘blue’ colored springs are a slightly lighter weight than ‘green’ springs. I guess there was a time the more powerful calibers got the ‘green’ spring.

LGS had what I was looking for.

Ether way I use ISMI flat wire springs but a couple pounds heavier the stock and after I found out glock spring arte the same it just makes find spring from 13lb to 22lb easy to find . My ported 5" 40sw runs a 20lb spring , same as in my 4.25 standard model and my wifes 9mm 4.25 core runs a 18lb spring . My recoil rods are stock metal rods as they do the job well . No need to change as the bolt at the end can be unscrewed to change springs !!

MY ammo is underwood's hotter loads for carry and my home rolled practice loads are also hotter but all of our m&p 9mm compact 4" included run the same spring lengths with nothing but a weight change between them .

Just to see how the spring worked I used my wifes 4.26 core 9mm recoil assemble in the 4" compact and found it recoiled fully with no spring bind and the 18lb spring functions fine even with some old stock 115gr federal fmj ammo with no nose dive returning to battery for me . Might try a 17lb sprig too. Lots of outlets for these ISMI springs as they might be the only provider for all flat wire springs .

Early m&p's 1.0 models were known to use lite under weight recoil spring so depending on your ammo used by a few different weight springs and figure out what you like or need .

You may want to contact Carver Custom. I replaced the stock guide rod and recoil spring in my M&P 1.0 with a guide rod and flat wire recoil spring from them. The parts worked well.

No reason to change the rod and stock spring is a flat wire springs that last longer the a round wire spring . Just note that the stock spring is a lite 16lb spring .

I have an EZ 9mm....do you purchase the rod separate from the spring?
