Good morning. I was cleaning my M&P 9C and after I put it back together, I decided to take it apart again just for practice. But when I took it apart I noticed the spring was half way out of its seat. Is that normal? And does the take down lever hold the spring also? Thanks in advance.

Is it possible you didn't have the spring seated properly the first time? Try assembling/disassembling it a few more times and pay close attention to the placement of the spring.

Also, the take-down lever does not hold the spring.

I did it 3 times. I put the back end of the spring right in the curved crevasse of the barrel. And almost every time I took it apart to recheck, it was lower than when I put it in.

the curved recess is there ONLY for installing the recoil spring, it does NOT operate in the recess after the gun is resssembled and functions.
This is exactly correct. In fact, the rotation of the takedown lever will push the recoil spring up a little; unavoidable.

So, don't worry about it.

So when I take it apart and the spring is hanging lower than when I installed it, that's normal?
