I want to order new recoil springs, specifically for my 3914 and 6904. I have always ordered slightly stiffer springs, probably from the days of shooting my 1911 45 where at that time everybody recommended an 18.5 lb. vs the 16lb factory standard. I figured I'd ask the experts here before ordering. I usually shoot the WWB 115gr. and occasionally the high performance ammo. Thank you

For Use in:
469, 669, 908, 3913, 3914, 9mm
3953, 3954, 5943, 5967, 6904, 9mm
6906, 6924, 6926, 6944, 6946, 9mm

Reduced Power...: 14 Lb.
Factory Standard.: 15 Lb.
Extra Power........: 16, 17, 18 & 20 Lb.

I'm also a longtime 1911 shooter who has dabbled in slightly heavier (than stock) recoil spring weights for 1911's and my Ruger KP90DC (even Ruger bumped up their standard recoil spring rate in the P90 after some years).

When it comes to my personally-owned 3913 (and other 3rd gen's), I returned to using stock factory recoil springs a long time ago.

I simply replace them a bit sooner than the typical recommendation (every 5 years or every 5,000 rounds fired), and even more so if I'm using +P or +P+ rounds.

I've been using 124gr +P loads for several years. Previously it was 147gr standard pressure loads and then 127gr +P+.

FWIW, I prefer to use factory mag springs for the single stack 9/.40/.45 3rd gen's, but I had satisfactory experience using 5% heavier mag springs for double stack 9's.
