So I have a Shield .40 and love it, but I find myself wanting the extra capacity of the 9c. Now, that said, I have a poly .357 and also an SD9VE. So I do have carry options. My question is, I'm not sure if the 9c is worth the increase in size between the Shield and the SD (which I see as fairly compact as is; about like a Glock 19). I'm entertaining trading the Shield for a compact.

In your guys' opinion, is the Compact good enough to choose over a Shield? I typically carry OWB, but sometimes IWB as well. I shoot great with the Shield, better than I did my old Pro .40 CORE actually. I just don't want to lose that going to a compact. Crime around here is gradually getting worse, and we have a good size druggie problem in these parts. Would you get a Compact if you already had a Shield and a fairly compact full size pistol?

If you feel that SD is compact enough for easy carry, then personally I see no reason why you would need a compact. It sounds like you can have yourself covered between the shield and SD.

You COULD always go for the 9mm Shield for "extra" capacity. :)

It doesn't sound like your living environment is any different than the rest of ours, drugs, crime, etc.

I own a Shield 40, 40c and a 40fs...I carry the Shield with the 6rd mag and a spare mag in the pocket.

The extra mags idea had hit me before too. That's probably my biggest temptation there is knowing it's 30 bucks for 6 or 7 more rounds available within seconds. I'll probably keep the Shield; maybe I was looking for justification for a new gun.....haha!

My personal dictionary defines "Justification" as: I want, therefore I get! :D:D

Taurus PT140 G2 .40 cal 11+1. It's reliable, well made and just a touch thicker than the Shield. Read the reviews on it.

I have long liked the Taurus revolvers. I'm still undecided on the autos; I tried a PT99 once however and it was probably the most accurate handgun I've ever fired. I have heard good things about the 140 though...I currently have a Taurus 605 Poly .357 and it's been a good shooter so far. I may have to entertain the 140....you know, the whole justification thing. Bad thing is, my wife doesn't seem to see things as justified as I do. Lol

Personally I don’t like the 9c or the .40c just because the grip feels awkward in my hand so I wouldn’t get either one period.

If capacity is what you’re looking for I find that the M&P9 isn’t all that much bigger than the 9C and I’d just go with that with the only caveat being since you already have a .40 Shield I’d get the M&P .40 so you only have to worry about stocking one caliber for carry. But that’s just me being anal.

Of course as said earlier you could just carry extra magazines
