Recommended "electronic" ear plugs?

I am seeking recommendations for an electronic ear plugs for shooting.
I currently have ear muffs with electronic sound suppression so when not shooting I can hear normal conversations.
However, as many of you know, muffs can get hot/sweaty and can bump against stocks when shooting long guns.
I have seen some adverts for similar features in ear plugs, but don't have enough experience with any of them to know if one is better than another.
I'm not opposed to spending a few dollars for a good pair, but $400 is probably my limit.
Thoughts/comments are appreciated.

Like you, I have seen advertisements, but not had the opportunity to try yet. One thing to consider, is how big are your ear canals? If yours are medium to large (you can get a yellow typical plug in without any difficulty) you may be a candidate. Unfortunately, I have small canals and It is fdifficult to get the Howard Leight orange plugs in after I roll them tight and moisten.

I just started using SoundGear custom in the ear protection. I had the molds made at the Area 1 match last May. What a difference, I can wear them all day long and forget that I have them in (except for the long lanyard that attaches the two plugs together). They were expensive, but I bought them from "House of Hearing" and they were able to bill my insurance company for the cost. I like them so much, I've ordered a pair for my wife. BTW I shoot open division and have no problem ROing other open shooters so noise protection level is a non issue.

I use these, indoors and out. I shoot a match every weekend. No batteries, no big, sweaty ear surrounds, (shot a 9 stage IDPA match yesterday in 100 degree temps and never took them off), no cheek weld interference and normal conversation can still be easily heard. They are an acquired taste because they seem loud at first, but through some miracle of science they attenuate the sound into something non-damaging and easily tolerable. I wouldn't use anything else at this point.
