Have a S&W 52-2 1977-8 range that I want to reblue/refinish. Very shallow damage in a few spots. Would appreciate suggested sources that will be as, or similar to, origonal S&W finish. ideas on sources and est. prices to expect would be appreciated.

Why not send it in to S&W and get a genuine factory refinish.

Not only will it look like new and original, it'll lower the value less than a non-factory refinish.
Pricing will be competitive with other top re-finisher services.

Contact S&W for info and pricing.

Thanks for responses. Talked with S&W and they do not use the finish that was used when this piece was built. Will be talking with the two recommended vendors. Any additional comments on these two or others for consideration would be appreciated.

Nobody uses S&W Carbonia blue formula anymore although there are some which claim to use a similar process. If Smith can't do the work, try Ford's or George Roghaar. I had a very tired Pre M27 redone by Ford's and their work was exemplary!

For standard modern bluing, one of the best is APW/Cogan:

New Page 1

For original, old types of bluing, Doug Turnbull Restorations are the go-to people.
Their work is the best available, but the prices are very high due to the high-end hand work needed to do it right.

If you just want it nicely blued, see any of the above.
If you want it back in factory new condition and are willing to pay the price..... Turnbull.

Tom,
I've had George Roghaar, Boca Raton Fl, reblue 2 revolvers for me. Very pleased w/his work and his customer service. Talked w/him at length on the phone numerous times around both guns. He was very patient, returned calls promptly, and he's a nice man.
Contact info (561) 306 3628, website is at gunblue.homestead.com
Good Luck, Kevin
