Recreating box labels

The simple solution that will never hurt anyone down the line is to obtain a period correct box for the same model as your gun, and simply display your gun in the box.
If giving details, I'd much rather be saying "this is a period correct box for this gun that does not match" than saying "this is a box that now looks correct because I put a phony label on it".

A simple rule for boxes, grips, and numbered parts on guns-

Never add numbers, never remove numbers. Follow that, and you can't do the wrong thing. ;)

Well said. I've heard rumors you were really wise and not I understand why. :)
 
I say don't do I have many interest areas in firearms. One other than my Smiths is collection and shooting M1A's. The M1A world if full of fake items. Fake stocks and fake magazines are everywhere. The person with some knowledge will know about these items. But the new guys will buy them and get burned. As these fake items age it will even be harder to tell them apart. I say don't do it unless they are clearly marked as a reproduction.
