Recut too tight .22RF chamber?

I have a Falcon Machining match barrel on my High Standard Victor. Have used it for nearly 20 years, but with the current environment of scarce .22 ammo, I find trying to use a variety of different ammo is a problem. The chamber is cut to "match" dimensions, and certain match ammo will work flawlessly. Quite a few do not, and the slide will stop just short of going into battery, as the ammo is just a tiny bit larger or longer.

I see several different chamber reamers available, in a "Benz" or a "sporter". Would I be correct that in order to have total reliability in ammo chambering I would need to use a "sporter" reamer? What degradation in accuracy would this have with this barrel?

If it were me I'd leave it alone. The ammo shortage will cease one day and you can't put it back. Have you checked on a new or used replacment barrel? I bought one from Volquartsen to mount a Red Dot on so I can use mine in scoped and open sight classes.

I agree, leave it alone. I just got a case of Aquila Gold Match for my Marvel that also has a tight chamber so I am OK. Also look for Wolf Match as it also works well.

I've tried Wolf Match in a couple guns, and it while very accurate, won't reliably cycle the action.

Maxw, where did you find the Aguila Gold Match? I've found some Aguila SE 40 gr. Standard, but even it's scarce.

I checked the MIddway site, and the "Reviews". Half the users had 40% or greater failure to feed/eject stating the ammo is very dirty. With the tight match chamber on my custom barrel, I don't think this is worth a try. The Aguila SE Standard Velocity I have been using is still Out Of Stock.

Call Randy at CT Precesion Chambering and have him make you another barrel. You will be glad you did. Not that many $$$, and you will not have to tamper with your present barrel which is a proven performer.
