A remake of the 1984 film Red Dawn is about to be released. Originally it was the Chinese taking the place of the Russians as invaders. Due to "relations", the Chinese have been digitally scrubbed and the N. Koreans inserted as the bad guys.

Does it star Charlie "Tiger Blood" Sheen again? If so the commies won't stand a chance, he is a self proclaimed F-18 you know.

They should have remade it with illegal Mexicans in place of the Russians. THAT I might have paid to see.

They should just rerelease the original in theaters. I'd like to see it on the big screen again and this new one sounds stupid.

I saw the original when I was about 19 and loved it. I can't get too hopeful this will be better. High school students even owning guns is totally not PC, much more so now than in the mid '80s. I can just imagine how Hollywood would neuter this story line today. I hope it's good, but truthfully I've never seen a re-make that was even close to as good as the original. Hope to be surprised with this one.

Call it Redawn redux, Orange sunset or just plain Borderline Invasion.

I think they should use Charlie Sheen, Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan plus some saturdaynite (SNL)people too should liven things up. But we need a few hot babes too?? Plus make the story line the arabs and the mexicans invading the southwest border and include the ones who are already here in the sleeper cells just waiting for the ok to blow up every gas station since they own them all already. Then have Clint Eastwood come in and save the day with a gun fight in the end in the desert. Great story line???

Gosh i gotta leave the coffee alone for a while. The new keurig is killing me....

North Koreans, huh. Why is everyone so terrified of offending the one group of people who are REALLY trying to wipe us off the face of the earth right now and make them the bad guys? I'm surprised they aren't having the Tea Party be the villians.

Red Dawn

When the original came out in the mid 80's, a young Marine on leave from boot camp went to see it with his wife. He was in uniform and would yell out a loud OOHRAH! everytime the Russians bought it. By the end of the movie, he had the entire movie theatre doing it! (Don't ask who the Marine is)
I'm sorry, while I don't underestimate anyone (I've studied the writings of Sun Tzu) it probably would've been more believable if it was the PRC instead of North Korea.
An even better idea would be a modern civil war scenario.

I'll just wait for "Sgt. York" starring Jamie Fox and don't forget the "To Hell & Back" remake starring Wll Smith. He will be a kick *** Audie Murphy!!!

It seems many movies are substituting Muslim or Chinese or Mexican bad guys in favor of something more milk-toast on the political correctness scale. Something like Germans, Irish, or home-grown American wackos. I've seen it in the Lethal Weopon movies, in the movie versions of Clancy novels, and now the Red Dawn remake. Movie makers don't have to worry about boycots that way I suppose. I guess some "minorities" have a better sense of humor than others?

Chinese Not Scrubbed

Every still I have seen from the soon-to-be-released Red Dawn II has featured Chinese writing (I can read the stuff and it's all Mainland Chinese -- not DPRK).

With that said, it looks good. I just hope that the pressure that weas indeed exerted by the ChiComs didn't force them to change it at all.

It was cool watching them drive an M-1 Abrams through the front doors of the old Kmart HQ in Troy, while filming in the Detroit area.

I'm with corpulent.

Go " WOLVERINES"

It was a great movie. have to catch the new one as well. Definatly should be a double feature and run both versions.

My favorite line in the original is when one of the wolverines is asking some of the townspeople to fight and one of the townspeople says something like, "But we might die" and the wolverine responds "We are all going to die, take a few of the enemy with you". Quote may not be exact but you get the idea.

Without turning this thread political, I assume you mean the Chinese?

If so, your perception is incorrect. If the US goes down, where do all the "Made in China" goods get sold? Like it or not, the economic success of the Chinese "communist-capitalist" state is inextricably tied to the economy of the USA. That is precisely why the Chinese are so eager to lend the USA $$$, snapping up US Treasuries. In doing so, the Chinese prop up . . . er, support the US govt which in turn keeps printing and distributing greenbacks to prop up . . . er, stimulate the US economy.

" WOLVERINES"

The fictional town will have to be located someplace where there are wolverines, the US upper midwest, etc.

It couldn't take place in PA, for example. Hollering "Groundhogs!" just doesn't have the same panache, does it?
