Red Dot for a M41?

Anyone know a source for a adapter that I can use to mount a red dot on top a M41 barrel? I guess I need something that provides a Weaver or Picatinny rail.

Do it right, have it drilled and tapped or buy one that is. Then buy a quality 1" dot. I have found ultra dot to be the best for bullseye as the dot is very krisp and the are quaranteed for life. Just my opinion, good luck. TonyR

The new barrels are drilled and tappped for a mount base. The older one will require drilling. I personally prefer the 30mm Ultradot and use the medium large dor size.

Mine's already drilled and tapped. I put a Burris FastFire on mine... ditto for my Mdl 952. Combo works beautifully.

With the Mdl. 41 you do not have to remove the rear sight. Just put on the Weaver rail, attach the sight, sight it in (you can use a boresight to speed the process if you have a .22 spud) do some fine tuning on the sight-in on the FastFire and go amuse yourself for hours - I do, daily, as I have my own pistol range in the back yard.

I have a newer model too - already drilled & tapped. Weaver rail was $9. Put a C-More Red Dot on top on that. Can't miss @ 25 m.

I have a Docter on my Clark Custom Barrel & a UltraDot on a 7"S&W barrel.
Both are great. The Docter mounts really low ans has very nice sight picture for speed shooting.

Thanks for posting that. I am convinced to get a Docter Red Dot now. They seem to be going for $400. Any betters deals out there on them?

If you don't have a drilled & tapped barrel(or don't want to D&T your original) you might consider buying a new barrel that is D&T. I had an older 5.5" and bought this new 7". Both Weaver & Weigland make a mount. My sight only requires the first slot so I cut off the unneeded portion for a cleaner look. It has stayed rock solid.

Clark Barrels are Weaver machined across the top so that you can mount a Docter anywhere you like. As far as price, I loked long and hard someplaces you can save $5, but they are out of stock

Look at the Ultra-Dot L/T sight. It has virtually the same look and dimensions as the Docter sight at around $205 shipped.

Here is an interesting comparison of the Docter sight and the Ultra-Dot. Is it true that the Docter sights does not have click adjustments and is a PITA to setup? If so it sounds like a not so cheap Chinese import!

Ultradot mounted on a Weaver T09 base (T62 also works) mounted on a 7 3/8" barrel.

Nice Pic Flame Red! My barrel ships Monday, I'll be watching to see your groups! I plan to test with both my Burris Fast Fire and Ultra Dot. I like the looks of the smaller foot print of the reflex sights. Regards

Took her out to the range today with the new Bully Barrel and Buris Red Dot. I tried Remington Fireball and CCI subsonic. After a couple of dozen shots to break her in, I noticed that she did not like the CCI subsonic at all. A few of the rounds would not chamber, and some that would would not fire and had to be removed with a rod. FTF every other round with the CCI subsonic.

The Remington was good, but I did get a few misfeeds and a few failures to go bang even though the were marked.

I am going to order a new firing pin. The extractor looks good. Also going to install a new recoil spring. I have not used this gun in many years and since it was chromed.

The Bully Barrel's grouping were good, on par with my 7" target barrel.

I was also pleased with the Burris red dot. Although there were no 'click' adjustments, it was not very hard at all to get her on target. Time will tell if it stays zeroed. The dot auto adjusts, and was very visable. Parallex was good. So far (one session) I am happy with it.

Now I must find a subsonic round that she likes. My suppressor should be approved soon.

What did I miss? I wouldn't expect a subsonic to cycle the 41 adequately even with a lighter recoil spring. It will trap the cases ejecting them or fail to seat the following round enough to fire it. There are a bunch the gun does like like CCI standard and Fed Premium Target, several Eleys. I believe I tried Aguilla sub-sonics once with similar results. Save those for your .22 revolver.

What did I miss?

Even the first round would not feed into the chamber properly, let alone any of the following. If I slammed the bolt in hard by hand, the subsonic rounds would stick and could not be extracted except by a rod. This definitely is not normal. Had nothing to do with the recoil spring. Could not even shove them in by hand like the cases were too wide. Maybe a defective lot?
