Red Dot Powder

Looked through Lyman cast manual #3. Red Dot was shown in 40 out of 77 rifle loads and 20 out of 38 pistol loads. It would be tought to find a powder as versatile other than BE or Unique.

I can't explain why, but I use quite a few handloaded 38 Special and 44 Special shot loads on Rattlers, and Red Dot always seems to give better patterns than my other choices. I like it for 38 Special loads in my Model 60, also.

I have the opportunity to get an 8lb can of this powder. Have never used it but need powder for 32H&R Mag, 9mm, 38 Spec, 357 Mag, and 45 ACP. Will this stuff work well in thesse calibers? Does it meter OK? Thanks for any help with this.

It will work in .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .45 ACP. And... for lots of fun, try "The Load," i.e., 13.0 gr. of Red Dot in the .30-06 and similar rifles. Google "The Load" by C.E. Harris. It is a very good powder for such purposes.
