Ditto, Just get an UltraDot even though they are bit pricey, for a few reasons. I happen to have 2--an UltraDot MatchDot, 30mm with 4 dot sizes. I like the smallest 2mm dot. If I'm having a bad day and shooting, say, a tad low and left, I can actually aim a bit high and right at the bull to compensate. I also have a smaller 1" Ultradot too.
Other reasons; They are RUGGED--many people mount the on the slide of their 1911's, and they just keep on ticking so they're certainly going to hold up on a 22.
Also, the dot is round--no distortion and no funny tails or trailers on it.
If you feel you HAVE to have an open sight, be aware of a few things; The LED radius is shorter and they often sit higher, whereas you want the dot to be as close to the bore line as possible. If you MUST get an open one, the only one I've seen that holds up is the Burris unit. But then again, they have something in common with the Ultradot--namely that they are pricey.
Next, take a look at some of the bullseye web sites for recommendations and who uses them--just sayin'.

PS, from an article I read somewhere a few years ago, Addco's are pretty good. They were the best red dots until Ultradot upgraded theirs about 10 to 15 years ago. I bought a used Addco 2 years ago, and it works fine on my Ruger Sec. Six revolver in 38 / 357 mag.
