Are there any Red dot type sights that can be mounted on an M29-3 or M686 no dash without doing any drilling or other mods to the gun?

Yes there are "mounts that allow you to mount scopes, but be cautious, as the older mounts with the 44 mag may not stay in place. You may have to make the decision to drill & tap the top strap.
