I have been able to get my iron sites zeroed.

I purchased a Meprolight RDS and mounted it. The red dot is above and right of the front sight. I turned the windage adjustment and the dot did not seem to move.

Should the red dot be moved just above the front sight?

Thanks in advance.

If your irons are zeroed, when using them to aim, the red dot should sit centered, right on top of your front sight post.

When adjusting the RDS remember to move the elevation/windage knobs in the opposite direction you are trying to drive the dot. For example, if you want to move the dot down, turn the elevation knob in the "up" direction.

Simply zero the red dot ignoring the irons. It should sit on the front sight, but may not because of tolerances in the rifle or the way you hold the gun.

I just did this with my Sport and a Bushnell TRS-25. The TRS wasn't even on paper till I adjusted it using the rear peep looking through the red dot to the front post. Adjusted the dot till it was on top of the post. Fired 3 shots and it was about 5" low and 2" right. Couple more 3 round groups and it was pretty much on. This was done at 75'. It's a 1/3rd co-witness with the 1" riser on my rifle so the dot will be above the post after doing the adjustments as above. I'm a newbie with a red dot on a rifle and this was the easiest way I found to center it after fumbling with trying to center it without using the iron sights as a guide. You'll use a lot less ammo too. You can line everything up at home and know you'll be pretty close to start with at 25 yards at the range. Picture of last target shot below, plus a couple of the gun.

Thanks to all.

Sanford12, now that is what I want to do - I am a newbie to the AR and to the Red Dot.

I'll work on it as I watch football - thanks.

A few months back, I needed help zeroing my Red Dot. I finally was able to get to the range and benefited from all the help.

It zeroed quickly and I am pleased with it performance.

Thanks to all for the help.
