Red dots and scopes

I need some advice about putting a red dot on my K frame. I bought a leupold dovetail mount for it but fount it doesn't allow me to mount my tasco propoint,( not enough room for the slightly larger barrel infront of the light unit and controls. I am thinking of going to a wiegan slotted mount so I can get more room between the rings. What set ups have you folks tried that work well and you like?

Just make sure your K frame is drilled and tapped for three holes. Under all but a K22, the single screw mounts don't hold up.

I had Cylinder & Slide drill and tap the topstrap of my 15-6 in the standard S&W three hole pattern($30) and used the regular Weigand mount($35).
