I have struggled with seeing the sights on my SD9VE for some time now, replaced front sight with Fiber, blacked out rear, tried Computer glasses and yesterday finally installed a Green dot sight as quite a few guys in our USPSA practice sessions use them and do real well with them. It is still early but the results were almost immediate ...hit the edge of the first ring of the target on my third shot with it using my normal distance glasses. It is going to be a learning curve to get quicker with the acquisition of the dot but I'm pretty impressed so far.

Easy install , push out rear sight with punch , install adapter plate and Green Dot sight, no modifications needed other than I did have to grind down the longest screws that came with it .

I put TRUGLO TFX Pro Tritium/Fiber-Optic Day/Night sights on mine. Made a world of difference for me. Best price I found, if you are interested was at Natchez Shooter Supplies. The SD9VE uses the same sights as the M&P line does.

Reflex sights are superb. Good for old eyes, as they seem to be "always in focus" and not blurred like the rear sight can be for "old folks" with presbyopia (e.g., which requires bifocals).

The dot can be very accurate; mine is 3.5 MOA, but you can get them down to 1 MOA and up to around 12 MOA. The shooter still needs to hold the dot on the target and press the trigger correctly, but the potential is there for great accuracy. I've noticed that I can keep both eyes open, which makes target acquisition faster; and that I can be accurate to a further distance than I can with regular iron sights.

Great addition to my pistol, and the prices are slowly coming down.

Added: At a recently attended pistol class, I noticed that the two guys in the class who were shooting with RMRs were by far and away the best shooters in the class. Coincidence? Are they into RMRs because they are good, and the sights make them better? I dunno, but I like these things a lot.
