Red Skelton--from his television show in 1969

He was one of my favorite comedians. Our family watched him live on TV every week. If you remember "Sheriff Deadeye" you're as old as I am. And you recall watching live TV, not this canned stuff of today. When a comedian flubbed his/her lines you saw it in real time. And that made it even funnier. Remember when Jackie Gleason broke his leg sliding into a prop on the stage and Art Carnie coming out to tell everyone he was hurt but would be OK? So many great comedians, it's a shame the kids today will never know them. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I go to Red Skelton's home town of Vincennes, Indiana; just about every day, I'm working. They are still very proud of him. The Red Skelton Bridge on hwy 50, crosses the Wabash river, going into Illinois. Vincennes University has a large Red Skelton Theater, with his picture painted on a huge wall. I don't know if Red Skeltons wife is still alive or not, but read of her donating things throughout the years, to various organizations. I think she sold a bunch of his paintings, for charity or something. I could be wrong, about that, and don't want to make anyone mad though. In do know that Red Skelton and his family have helped lots of good causes. Mikey
