First - The Crimson Trace people have been super!

Got the new laser this afternoon. Installed new green on/off buttons and green laser with a new battery.

Using a bore laser, adjusted the aim. It had changed over the exchange.

I will take it to the range this weekend but all seems to have gone very well.

Mission accomplished.

$32 plus 4% sales tax.

Took 13 days. Most of that was Fed-Ex problems.

Currently waiting for mine. Cost to me near chiraq was $34 delivered.

Point of info - Crimson Trace Customer Service told me they are only doing that for Lasers still in the 1 year warrantee program. If you qualify, it's a heck of a deal.

When mine comes, I think I will leave one button red, and the other green, in the spirit of Christmas! lol

I think I read somewhere that the output is the same, but that it takes roughly twice the input power to make the green output equal to the red. Therefore the reason for the half life of the green battery. That is OK with me, as it's only 1 battery in the green, vs 2 in the red. Besides that, I don't plan on using it often! The lithium battery should last a long time, if it is used sparingly, or only when really needed.

there are no green leds for weapons lasers. they are just use a green filter, thus the shortened battery life.

No. Green lasers operate on a much shorter wavelength and require a much higher frequency, which is what causes accelerated battery drain compared to red.

Just so I'm sure I understand correctly. You sent in your Shield 2.0 and they replaced the red laser with a green laser or did they just send you the green laser to install yourself? I bought a Shield w/red laser a couple months ago so am I eligible for this same upgrade? What exactly did you do to get the upgrade? 34 bucks for a green laser is a great deal! Thanks for the info.

Call Crimson Laser, (the number is 800 442-2406), tell them that you would like to exchange your red unit for a green. They will ask you when you purchased the weapon. Give then the date on the laser. You will need to give them your credit card number for $32 plus local tax. They will give you a return authorization number and an address. Return the red unit and they will send you a green unit in about 14 days. All went well.

The Crimson people are great!

After some searching it appears the $34 red to green upgrade is a recall and only affects some red laser modules. For those of you that got the upgrade what was the date stamp on your laser module?

UPDATE: I just called CT customer service and they are sending me a green laser module for $34 just as stated in this thread. They only asked me when I purchased my gun and nothing else about the gun or module. Woo Hoo!

Recall was not mentioned to me.
Someone here mentioned that it had to be in a one year from purchased. I just read them the date on the label. It was within one year.
