Reducing DA and SA trigger pull on current S&W revolvers.

I adjust it in 1/8 turn increments. Then when I'm getting 100% ignition, I give it another 1/8 turn for insurance, and record that number (on the trigger pull gauge) for that gun.

Series guy, I tested the DA trigger this morning with Winchester 38spl white box ammo, and it worked every time. Eight rounds fired. I think it is good now. I might substitute a 15 lb rebound spring for the current 14 lb version, to slow down the overtravel after ignition.

When I got my 986, which touts a Performance Center main spring for a lighter pull, I pulled off the side plate to take a peek out of curiosity.

The spring looked like, and I highly suspect, that it was a Wolf reduced weight power rib spring. I then noticed that the strain screw looked different than what's on my other round butt grip frame S&W's. It's the longer screw used on square butt S&W's.

I have a 625-8 that was having the same ignition issues you describe after installing the Wolff mainspring, I swapped the strain screw with a square butt strain screw I had on hand... problem solved.

For a bit of an insurance against harder primers, I also installed the APEX extended length firing pin with the reduced weight return spring on both the 986 and 625-8.

Primer ignition has been reliable with all of the brands of ammo (Winchester, CCI, Federal, Magtech, Federal) I've put through them.
