Refinished 681 PC

I never liked the look of the Birdsong blk/grn combo. It looks much better now. I am curious however....why didn't you just go with a bead blast finish? it is stainless steel right?

I think I advised you not to refinish it when you posted a while back. I happen to like the original finish, and remember drooling over one at a gunshow in the late 90s or early 2000s. But I have to say it looks fantastic! Really amazing! Much better than the original.

The Ahrends are a very nice touch too. Goes very nicely with your 681.

My 586 L Comp PC that I bought last week just showed up at my LGS. On my way to pick it up. Similar gun. Really love how yours came out.

I will be doing the exact same thing with mine. Mine had to go back to Smith with a lot of the reason being the finish being applied to thick in areas. I actually asked the Performance Center to simply remove it rather than refinish......but they didn't do that.

NP3 makes sense even over the stainless due to the lubricity it adds, and really helps to clean revolvers.

Night and day difference. The gun looks great. I'd be happy. How is the NP3 reported to hold up to wear?

The NP3 finish is reportedly very resistant to wear. The "lubrication" may be an advantage, but honestly I can't tell a difference. It had a super smooth performance center action before, and it still does!

I considered the bead blast option and agree that would have been nice too, but honestly just wanted to try this because I didn't have any revolvers with the NP3 so for me it was something different.
