A while ago, in one of the many threads on refinishing, I mentioned I had a revo at Ford's, and I'd post pix when it got "out." It's back... before & after photos follow.
Before:
27L.jpg

Note the pitting on the sideplate; didn't come out with a light buffing.
27R.jpg

After:
DSC00886.jpg

Right side: Grips are from Forum member Executioner, holster is a Simply Rugged pancake.
DSC00891.jpg

My "artsy" photo... the refinish did not affect the logo clarity.
DSC00837.jpg

Here's the four-line; again, clean & clear.
DSC00840.jpg

Right muzzle; roll marks are clean, and finish is even.
DSC00898.jpg

If you like Model 27 topstrap checkering, you'll like this.
DSC00873.jpg

Left side; the photos don't do justice to the holster & belt. Nice tooling.
DSC00865.jpg

The reflection on the leading edges show the degree of the reblue; even & consistent.
DSC00907.jpg

Even inside the crane, the numbers are crisp.
DSC00856.jpg

The reflection along the barrel shows the consistency of the reblue.
DSC00908.jpg

The recoil shield is nicely smooth.
DSC00866.jpg

The shadows are from the silicone cloth... the finish is mirrorlike.
DSC00869.jpg

Another sideplate shot... there is a very fine line on the cylinder, but not at all visible.
DSC00884.jpg

The reflections show the finish, again, mirrorlike.
DSC00882.jpg

And the backstrap is also smooth & clean.

Overall, I'm very happy with the work. The photos really don't do it justice; when I have my tripod and lights, I'll reshoot this and get some better shots (best shutter speed I could get was 1/40th, so the focus isn't a good as it could be.) Overall, I'd do this again, but only for a gun that needs a refinish or I'd carry a lot. This one needed a refinish to get rid of the pitting and some moderate scratches; I'll be carrying this in cold weather. The Simply Rugged pancake does a good job of hiding the big N frame, and the belt is more than strong enough to hold the weight. The elk grips are bigger than the magnas it came with, which make for a better grip... and I like the look

Looks like they did a excellent job, what was the cost, I had S&W do a reblue for me for $250 and that was with a tune up and new screws and complete rear sight, I was thinking about having Fords do a reblue on a recent 58 I bought, it's in probally 95% condition, all orig but I would like to have it like new. How long did it take?

Gunnut -- Cost was $275; time was about 3.5 weeks, but because I drove there to get it, it took a while before I was able to get off work before I could go pick it up. They did say they try to do work for "locals" sooner, but I'd think 4-6 weeks max. I'd call them if you're serious about having them refinish to get a fix on the duration.

Nice revolver and great re-blue job. I have an early .44 Magnum (pre-Model 29, 5 screw) that was more beat up than your Model 27. Sent it back to S&W in 1984, they did a polish and re-blue and replaced a cylinder stop. Cost back then: $84.00 including shipping. Came back looking like new.

Very nice work! I can see why you'd be pleased with the results. Thanks for the great pics.

Regards,

Jerry

Yep! I had Ford's do a 5 screw 3 1/2" Pre M27 for me that was more cosmetically challenged than yours and it came back equally excellent.

Horrace Boothe @ Ford's is a Master refinisher.
I had them do an HK P7M8 for me about three years ago in Hard Chrome, They removed a mill mark & reengraved the slide, the work was perfection..
Congrats on the reblue, It looks fantastic BTW

As nice as the revolver looks, I can't get over how good that Simply Rugged holster looks. I knew they made functional holsters, but I had no idea they made such good looking holsters.

Love the revolver and grips but the holster is just beautiful! Good job!!!
