Refinishing Issue

I recently purchased a used Model 60 and the previous owner clearly carried it in the same pocket as his keys, change, rocks, screws, etc... I was able to refinish and polish the stainless to a nice mirror-ish finish but lost the coloring in my S&W logo in the process. The etching is still there but no color.

Any advice on how to make it stand out again?

I have owned two 60's and I don't remember the logo being colored. Some people use a crayon to fill the logo then wipe the excess off, or colored pens from a hobby shop.

It was just a light accenting of the logo. Maybe I'll give the crayon a shot; Worst case, a few rounds of .357 should melt it right out!

Any coloring in the logo was put there by someone. Leave it as is and enjoy.

Somebody probably used some of that gold fill goop on your S&W. It was popular some years back and is still available from Brownell's. Personally, I wouldn't let a bottle within 25 yards of any of my guns, but the choice is yours:

Some black paint might also look nice if you want to see the stamping, but without the flash of gold. Rub some on, then wipe it off and give it a final wipe with a tiny bit of appropriate solvent. It should leave enough in the stamping to make it more visible.

I've seen people also fill in the engravings & logos etc with a China Marker which is used in a China shop to mark products, There available in many different colors, alot of HK guys fill there's in with Red for instance..
