Regular Shield or PC Shield

I went with the regular shield, I don't like the sights on the PC neither the ported barrel/slide. Installed the apex duty carry kit with aluminum trigger, truglo NS, +2 mag extension and I love this thing.

Got the regular Shield9, +2 mag extensions, and awaiting the Apex kit. Finished putting over 1000 rnds today and the Shield is finally starting to break in.
The PC has better sights, ported barrel and better trigger. Wanted to get the PC but was not available when I was in the market.

the dcaek kit is good, but the aluminum trigger reduces over travel. I left the factory trigger return spring and it breaks a bit under 6lb.

I had the original Shield 9mm and when the PC edition came out, the porting was a concern for me. After watching and waiting, I got the PC and I like it much more than the original. I am not a fan of the apex system on my carry guns (legal issues?) and the Shield PC has an excellent trigger straight from the factory. Each person must make their own decision though. Good luck. PS-after 500rds the only issue has been a problem with a factory mag folding into itself. Crazy!

Your the second person that mentions leaving the factory trigger return spring. On another forum read to just change the Apex trigger, sear and safety plunger, leaving the stock springs.
I have the regular shield and am happy with it. For a striker fired pistol, the trigger is just fine with me. I would recommend getting the regular shield and using the $120.00 you will save to buy a good set of night sights to install on it. Those fiber optic sights on the PC model aren't going to do you a bit of good when it's dark outside or you are in a dark room / building.

the apex sear takes aprox 2lb from trigger pull, so the apex springs brings up the trigger pull a bit to compensate.

I have never seen or handled the pc version. I am sure that it is ok, but there is nothing wrong with the idea of getting the regular M&P Shield9 and putting the saved dollars into ammo-mags or holsters or your pocket.

I bought the PC version and love it. I bought the Ameriglo Tritium I-Dot sights ($85) to replace the factory ones. I really enjoy this gun - after carrying the M&Pc 9mm for so long, the factory trigger on the Shield is fantastic, love the audible reset. Shot both versions of the Shield before buying, and I'm happy I went with the PC version.

What exactly make you decide to get the PC over the regular shield? I mean is the trigger smoother, lighter, shoots better?

I think there is good reason to avoid the PC model personally. Ports...I don't like em on a self defense gun. Others will argue it's no big deal and that's probably right 90% of the time if not more. Still, why do you need them? Were talking about a 9mm gun. Why complicate it. Get the regular version

I personally do not see the benefit of ports on a gun with such a short barrel a friend of mine has a PC shield and I in all honesty couldn't tell that it was even noticeably different from my stock shield when I fired his, the trigger was better though IMHO.

PPS M2. Beats even the PC Shield in every comparison I've seen.
I had both but sold the PC Shield. I like the regular Shield better with aftermarket night sights. I don't like fiber optic sights on carry guns, and I didn't like the ported barrel's extra muzzle flash, especially with it being such a short barrel. I initially bought the PC Shield since I thought the trigger was better, but I really didn't notice much of a difference, if any. My regular Shield is well broken in. I'm fine with the stock trigger on the Shield. It's not a bulls-eye gun.
Same here. I did a little polishing while apart. Perfect for me now.

I like my PC Shield, from the FO sites to the trigger (esp compared to my compact and full size MP 9's) to the seemingly lower recoil/flip for the 2nd shot. Not one at this stage to modify something, i keep whatever i buy as stock. Just my .02 on that part.
And yes maybe i'm still a newbie in this hobby but I like the look of it. I dont worry about any flash in near or total darkness, not gonna aim at anything I cant see and if its light enough for aiming then the flash doesn't bother me (based on darker indoor range lanes).
Will this be my carry gun should i get to that point? Yep.
Do i enjoy shooting it now as a range piece? Oh yes....

Shot both guns and preffered the trigger in the PC. It's a trade off - I didn't want the regular night sights from the regular Shield so I already knew I was going to incur that cost...why incur another cost of adding a better trigger to the regular Shield? I don't notice the venting from the PC barrel when I shoot the gun...but I do notice a smooth trigger with noticeable reset.
Like other subcompacts it is a point and shoot when SHTF, am I going to worry about a little bit of extra possible outward venting from the ported barrel...doubt it...so I'm sticking with my PC shield. I also plan on buying the .45 version...can't wait!

I purchased a PC model last week but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. After a few range trips if may replace my XDs 9.
