Oh boy, I didn't even realize that! You're probably right, the # in the data base must be a typo. And the incorrect # 42294 on the grip just adds to the confusion. The only RP that grip can be from is a 38 S&W from the mid '30s.

So you're right, the letter must be in error, you should be looking for RP sq butt extension stocks w/o medallions. And ask Roy (Don Mundel now) for a corrected letter.

They were introduced in 1917 and medallions were eliminated and stopped being used by or in early 1920. Those are the recessed gold plated over brass medallions.

I recently acquired a round butt Regulation Police chambered in .38 S&W with a 4" barrel. The serial number is 429XX. I was wondering what the approximate ship date was and a source for some correct grips for the old girl? Thanks in advance!

Marty did it come with those grips on it? Because those are much later production.

Sarge, I realize the grips in the pics are not period correct, thus my request for a source to obtain the correct grips. I mounted the grips in the pics for a test firing range session.
