I always wanted a model 58, but the prices have been high and you just don't see them for sale very much around here. I was at the Reliant Center gun show today in Houston and looking for good deals on desirable S&W revolvers. Prices on them were scary! Several modern S$W revolvers were priced above $1,000.00 and common K frame models started at $500.00 and went up from there.

At any rate, I found a table with about 10 S&W revolvers on it. Nice gentleman said they were his personal guns and I was interested in a pretty nice old Victory he had. Then I spied a model 58. Price tag said $545.00. The lighting in Reliant is terrible and the 58 looked extra shiny like a reblue, typical of an old duty revolver. I asked him if I could examine it and he said yes.

Upon closer examination I found it wasn't reblued, just in excellent plus condition. I asked if he would take $500.00 for it and he stuck his hand out. I put the Smith in my belt so he couldn't back out on the deal and counted out the cash to him.

Upon getting it home, it looks like it is unfired. A little blue wear on the muzzle where it laid in someones drawer or something. The action is still stiff and their is no ring around the cylinder or ring around the firing pin hole.

Here she is, Serial number N2615XX:

You know of course that there some among us who hate you!!;)

Wonderful find, congratulations.

It looks as if it actually has the correct grips! That's a big deal in my book.
One day, I'll find a deal like that. I did get this pristine Model 57 no dash for $500:

But getting a 58 for half a grand, well that's just too good.
Did I mention that your 58 has the right grips?
