Thinking of buying one and want to know if there are any problems with them. I'm sure the bugs are worked out by now if there were any. I like the Sport MOE stock.

What kind of accuracy are you getting with or without a scope? Any ammo that stands out? Thanks for your opinions. Is there another brand that you consider better overall. Thanks, Larry

I have the newest M-Lock model

I bought it last November when Academy had it for $379

They also included a $50 gift card,10% off purchase card and $25 off 1st statement for getting their credit card.

After all the discounts I received the 15-22 cost $294

Check the big box stores for deals on the 15-22

Also check Quantico Tactical if you are First Responder or Military....active or retired with proof.

I pick mine up on Friday. After all the research I did the only mods I think are a must is antiwalk pins. I got an extended mag release as well but it's not needed. Turners has a great deal on them for 299. If your lucky they will let you order one for that price. They ran out of stock for the sale.

Whatever the current Sport model is what I purchased months ago. Have a few hundred rounds through it mostly at 25 / 50 meters. I use CCI AR Tactical. With both my Vortex Venom red dot (3 moa) and the MBUS sights, it's very accurate imo. I'm sure it's not as accurate at distance as those high end target models but I could easily make a kill shot on an armadillo at 50 meters. Had a green laser on it that was less than quality. Replaced it last night with a green Crimson Trace CMR 206 for multiple reasons. Have experienced no problems. I really like it.

I have had my M&P 15-22 for 3 1/2 years. No problems. Very accurate. I have a Vortex Strike II as well as a Nikon P-22 scope that I used with it. If using optics I think any rifle is only as accurate as the quality of the optics permit.

The manual with my M&P 15-22 has recommendations for ammo.Says not to use Remington Thunderbolts. I generally use CCI, Federal, or Winchester Super X. The CCI Tactical is the most accurate in my opinion.

I'm going on 4 years with mine and approx 8-10,000 rounds later its still going strong. Won many a rimfire steel match with it. Best ammo I found for it was Federal auto match, Winchester M22, and of course CCI tactical.

I have an M&P 15-22 that I bought used, it was 1 year old, maybe 6 years ago for $350. I haven't shot it much but no matter what cheap ammo I feed it there are no hiccups what so ever. I have a cheapo red dot on it that I can use the irons or the dot. The cheapo dot stays on setting so I like that. I will say it sure can go through the 25 round magazine real quick.

I've got a couple of the m-lok hand guard type. No problems whatsoever. That's not to say that there hasn't been the occasional ftf/fte. But only every so often, maybe every four or five hundred rounds. Since we're talking 22, then I consider that normal, especially given the fact that I don't bother to stagger the rounds.
I do recommend a few upgrades, such as a trigger, and optics. The trigger I installed tightened up my groups substantially. I've also added a few other upgrades, but that's a personal preference. I highly recommend this little gun, it's a lot of fun to shoot. And with the McFadden loader, it can be loaded as fast as you can shoot it. Cleaning is easy also. Buy one, you'll love it!

My cousin got the one they made the Tuesday after Memorial day I believe. Blew out the extractor the first day. We replaced it and the spring (which is the equivalent of a unicorn), and a couple weeks later the firing pin chipped to where you can't shoot it 3 times in a row. He's called S&W twice about the firing pin, they want him to send the whole gun back. That was a week and a half ago, and he still hasn't received a shipping label from them which basically takes all of 5 seconds to email.

I like the gun, and this isn't an every gun thing here, but so far I think they have some work to do still. The chipped firing pin seems to not be an isolated issue.

Maybe it depends on which rep you talk to. When my firing pin broke they mailed me a new pin and spring, and i replaced it myself.

I did have to send the gun in a couple times for a broken extractor (took them two tries to get it right). When I got off the phone the mailing label was already in my email both times. I wonder if your cousin missed his or maybe they typed his email incorrectly or something. Sounds like he needs to call again.

Larry,

Had mine since 2011/12 the early Mag-pul moe model. NO issues in at least a couple (or more) thousand rounds...... the boys love it. Ian and I blew through about 400rds one morning before he went back to college.

By myself I tend to use the 10 rd magazines and put maybe a 50-100 rounds through it a session...... I'm not big on spray and pray..... I usually shoot at the reduced (14x22") silhouette targets. At 25-50 yds.

With balk ammo and a Vortex viper red dot .... mine will break 4" clays at 50 yds....... then break the halfs ...... and the quarters..... braced offhand.

Never really tried to shoot "teeny tiny" groups with it as the dots I've used are in the 3-6MOA size..... teeny tiny groups I get the CZs out.

Fun guns..........................good AR training tool as the controls are the same..... gun is a bit lighter.

"...... especially given the fact that I don't bother to stagger the rounds." What's this mean in the context used? Thanks.

Many people have experienced problems with feeding. The answer seems to be staggering the rounds as they're loaded. One at a time. The McFadden loader eliminates this, by staggering the rounds as it loads. Unfortunately I haven't invested in the McFadden, and still load by hand. Luckily I don't experience any more ftf/fte, than I do with any of the other 22 autos that I have. I'm fortunate to have a couple of the many 15-22 rifles, that take any brand ammo, and from a mag that was loaded without concern for proper staggering of the rounds. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you. I had a feeling that's what you were referring to. I reckon I'm so used to loading "staggered" it must be a subconscious thing. Regardless of caliber, load 'em, give it a whack, nose up, call it good. Don't laugh, I have never or known anyone who has (perhaps they were and I didn't know) made a conscious effort to stagger a load. Now watch, I will do it with great concentration and my weapon will malfunction. Lol

I have the McFadden and it works as advertised. Once the rounds are put into the hopper and settled into the required loading positions, it's very quick. I rarely use it though unless loading several magazines.

Exactly! I think he got the A-hole twice. Needs to get his name, then hang up until someone different answers.

I use the McFadden like crazy on my gsg 1911. Tried it on my 10 x ten Rd mags for the 15 22 but it wasn't as buttery smooth. Hopefully when I pick up the gun and use it at the range this Friday it will work better.

Picked it up tonight. Installed the anti walk pins, recoil pad, and extended mag release. Mag release really isn't needed but I already bought it so put it on.

Can't wait to take this bad boy to the range this weekend. Loaded up all 11 mags and have plenty of extra ammo.

I purchased a 15-22 three weeks ago from Academy for $380. I have only put 200 rounds of CCI Mini Mag down range but have not had any FTF or FTE. I just now put a Bushnell TRS-25 Hi Rise on it which does not have any problems except I can't co-witness using the MBUS sights. I'm about to order the UTG .83 medium profile compact riser mount on it, hopefully that will give me absolute co-witness (or at least some kind of co-witness - lol). This is a fun and cheap gun to play with, I'm liking it.
