I'll be in Columbus tomorrow (Saturday) for the day with the wife, and I figured that I'd pick up a few reloading supplies while there. Do you guys have any suggestions on places to try?
I just bought a .308 rifle and am looking for large rifle primers, bullets and some powder to get me started for this caliber. I have some brass a friend gave me, so I'm good on that.
I'll probably stop at Cabela's and Gander Mountain, but not sure where to go after that. I've heard of Vance's and Sharpes, but haven't been to either of those before. Might try them as well.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

If you are going to be heading up I-71 towards Cleveland you really want to stop in at Fin, Feather, & Fur at the Ashland, Ohio exit. Because I can flat out Guarantee you that they will have more of everything you might need than either Gander Mountain or Cabela's. In fact if you need powder I wouldn't even waste any time at Cabela's or Gander Mountain, Gander Mountain will have nothing and about all you'll find at Cabela's is Leverlution powder and Pyrodex. Up at the Fin you'll be able to choose between Varget, IMR 4064, and possibly some Accurate 2495. You'll also find a HUGE selection of 30 caliber bullets.

BTW, to find the Fin head north on I-71 to the exit for Ashland, Ohio, turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto US 250 and go east about 1/4 mile. There on the left you'll see the Fin and once you see the reloading center in the basement you'll understand why the Fin draws customers from Chicago, Ill to Syracuse, Ny. BTW, it's only about 1 hour 20 minutes north of Columbus so you may just want to skip Cabela's and Gander mountain and go north even if you live in Cincinnati. Seriously, the Fin is that good and it's why I'll make a 340 mile round trip every 3 months or so to stock up.

I'll be driving in from the Athens area on route 33.
Holy smokes! That store looks awesome! I've never heard of that place before....
Don't know if I can justify going that far North of town tomorrow, but I'll sure try. That might be a trip for later in the fall with my father (he just started reloading).

Also up north in Shelby, Ohio is Sportsmen's den. Outside Utica, Ohio is Champion Shooters Supply. Closer to your neck of the woods, in Hebron, Ohio is Buckeye Outdoor. It is Vance's east location. For the better side of pricing go to The Fin and Champion, then Sportsman's Den, Then the Vance's locations and on the bottom of the barrel GM and Cabela's. If you find what you want, buy enough to last a year or better of shooting! van

C'mon Ivan, no love for your homey?;)

Aumiller Gun Shop. 1 West Main Street, Westerville. We're about 10 minutes from Cabela's. Not a lot of reloading equipment but we do have large rifle primers, 30 caliber bullets and several rifle powders.

Sorry bluejax, didn't get up there until late in the afternoon. I think we may be going up again next weekend (the wife found a few things for the house she wanted to go back and pick up), so I'll stop by there first. Do you work there?
What are the operating hours on Saturdays?

Man, you get touchy about your shop :)

It's now on my list of places for our next trip north!!!

LOL!!! Excellent! I look forward to seeing you. Maybe we can get Eugenenine and Ivan the Butcher and have an impromptu Forum party at the Old Bag of Nails Pub across the street?

Just so you know, I got bored to tears, ended my retirement and got a "regular" 40 hour job - mainly for the benny's, but also for my sanity. But I still come in to Aumiller's 5 hours on Saturday and help out, as long as they'll let me.

Cool! If we come back over this Saturday, I will be sure to stop in and introduce myself.

Might pick up some large rifle primers and a pound of powder too.

I'm only allowed to go that way if I leave my wallet at home :)

Unless I'm buying her something.

We have a bit of medical bills coming so I probably won;t be able to order her anything for a while/

You know, Eugene, it's hard telling what Alex will put up next. It's as much a surprise to me as it is to you!:D

If he ever needs to clean shop he can dump everything in the back of my truck and I'll haul it away for him :)

I was telling Allen about my dad's old single shot revolver and he walked over and pulled out one just like it.

January needs to come soon, thats when I get my annual compensation so I can cross another gun off my want list. For some reason though my want list seems to get longer each year.
