I have a chance to buy a rem 1100 vent rib mfg in 1966 that I am sure that has never been fired. It is excellent shape, only one small scratch on stock, and has been put away all of its life. I can pretty much name my price as it is family, but want to offer something fair. What is it worth in these circumstances?

I own one made in 73'. Excellent auto loader! Remington made a bazillion of them and there's always a bunch for sale around here so they tend to be reasonably priced. If yours is unfired and I was selling it I'd ask $750 hoping somebody really wanted one like that. Other wise I'd take $600. Here $500 buys a very nice one.

You don't mention gauge. The less common 20 ga and even les common 16 ga 1100s will sell for a little more, while the 12 ga 1100s will sell for a little less.

Chamber length also makes a difference with 3" magnum chambers selling for a bit more.

A 20 ga 3" magnum, 28" in that condition will sell for $750-$800

A 12 ga 2 3/4" 1100 Trap in that condition will sell for around $600

A standard 12 ga vent rib 1100 in 95% condition will probably sell for around $500.

I've been trying to get rid of a Remington for 6mos.
1913 Model 11 no dash.......12 gauge, they just don't sell for much

Rem 1100

I see PO is from Tenn. For a good deal on a 1100 you should
take a trip up the Dixie Highway to Ohio. With our new Rifle
Deer season there will be a lot of 1100 & 870s for sale. Lots
slug guns will be in shops as trade ins for rifles.
Really those 12g models aren't bring that kind of money in
these parts. I even have one and I don't like Rems.

That is the gun my Dad hunted dove and quail with. I shot it once, knocked me on my butt, literally. After he died I had his gun completely renovated. I had the barrel cut to 18" with a bead sight. It looks like a new gun. When I pass it will be given to my younger brother. It will most likely never be shot again.

How much do you want for the one you have and what condition is it in?

If you do buy it, go buy a seal kit for it and put it in. They're not that expensive or hard to install especially if you're going to use it.

1100

I would sell mine but I have several barrels for it. I forget what
year I bought it, but cost was $169.95 new. I got hold of the
21" FC/Vr Special Field barrel. Makes good turkey rig. Gun looks
new. I bought it for deer hunting/ slugs and ended up using
Brn, A-5, the king of autos.

I own the 1100 now, made a deal on it and the pre mod 10 snub nose. I am pretty sure the 1966 model 1100 has never been fired, it shows no signs of it and is in perfect shape, I dont need it but couldnt let it get away.

Before you shoot it, you may want to replace the O-ring. If it hasn't been fired, the ring may be stiff. Remington makes them, and you can also get them at some hardware stores.

O rings

When I had shop, I went to a industrial supply that specialized
in belts, seals, Orings, ect. Took a 12 & 20 Rem 1100 Orings
with me. They had them in boxes of 100, in 2 grades. I bought
box of each cheaper than a dozen from Rem.

There are alot of variations , vent rib is kinda vague can you post pics ?
I have two nice examples of 80's guns for sale near me for $450 each in about 90% cond.

BTW, 2 Posts about a Special Field...Thought I was the only one with an 1100 special field,
Love the short barrel but, IIRC the barrel will not work on a regular 1100 because the magazine and forearm are shorter

Paid $450 for mine about a year ago.

Think you got a great deal on a great looking Special Field. I own a 1100 TB trap bought new in 80 for $330! Whish I would have grabbed a Special Field back in 84 when they came out. When I see what a new 1100 is going for I am glad I bought mine for trap shooting way back. Hold onto that one. Looks pristine!!
